I agree with you Enloe. Everything about the car is spot on period perfect. Stack injection with a great stance, and great wheels and tires. They ran for Seaport Automotive out of Toledo Ohio. They probably ran at Milan and probably saw the car run although I do not remember that livery. I do remember the 62 Vette driven by Ron Clark and they ran an Anglia as well, although I cannot remember the driver. They ran some great cars for sure. A few years ago I stopped by their booth at a local swap meet and tried to chit chat but the guy there knew very little about the old cars they used to drag race. Thought I could get a few tid bits but struck out.

Jason I thought I had posted on this Daniel Boone 61 Vette before but maybe not. A pretty cool car out of Riverside built in the late 60s. Pretty stout car that allegedly ran on the street as well. A blown 377 with 10% setback, running on 80% alcohol and 20% nitro. An article I have on the car said it turned high 8s (if true for late 60s that would be quite impressive if it ran on the street as well). It ran a turbo 400 with 4:56 gears (Dodge rear end).

I did a search and the owner Jerry Boone did respond on a thread asking the whereabouts of this car. Cool car for sure.

    This is a local car.
327 with constant flow injection and magneto, behind it is a Road-race Dog engagement 4 speed
    and street registered.
Testing the out a trailer I built.

This article on Gus Phillipich's 1961 Vette was posted in the Junior Stock thread by Lyn Smith and figured it should be included in this thread as well (and appreciated by a few more people I suppose). I have a couple of other photos as well and thought I may have one other photo as it raced in MP but cannot seem to find it. 20181130_204813_resized.jpg G Phil art 2.jpg G Phil art 3.jpg G Phil art 4.jpg V-G Phill 1.jpg V-G Phill 2.jpg

I previously posted the Grand Sport Corvette of Delmo Johnson,
Here's a couple of his pre dating that car [ a 63 split window]

Kerry that is the 63 Z06 that Johnson raced prior to the Grand Sport adventures. He did pretty well with it. I remember when that car came up for auction some years back along with his 62 Vette. If only I had a really big cookie jar with spare change.

Here are a couple of other pics. The car was allegedly the first with the two bar knockoff. The picture of it overtaking the Chapparal (I believe) seems to show the knockoffs.

    Here's a goody

    A. J. Foyt in the No. 2 Mecom Racing Team Corvette Grand Sport chasing the No.1 Cobra of Ken Miles. [The car numbers reflecting the cars order:D]

But the real WTF in this photo is not the cars, but the crowd standing on the edge of the track [on the outside of a corner] watching them go by without any concern for safety. And........some of them are smartly dressed and wearing a tie [IMG].

I'm thinking the ones with ties are from the sheriff's department.

I had one of those back in the 70's.

I said to the cop "whats wrong?" , he replied "you're too slow"
He turned out to be a cool dude...and a founding member of a local car club

This pristine low mile Sebring Silver on saddle interior Z06 was found stored in the basement of a funeral home next to a hearse. Thus the connection with the cemetery where it was photographed for a short lived hard cover publication called Corvette the Sensuous American. The car appeared in the last edition of the last volume in 1985. At that time the car had only 5350 miles. This '63 was ordered in the mentioned color combination with the Z06 package , black wall tires which it still wore when photographed, AM wonder bar radio, 3:55 posi dif. The car was delivered less the knock off wheels and 36 gallon tank to an Ithica NY dealer .

  27. I'd say the ones in the darker uniforms and Stetsons are FL State Troopers.
