What are the plans for the race car Geoff? Are you fixing it up to go racing again? How long since it ran, where did it run last and how fast did it go?

Here's a simple cover using an image I took today whilst messing around with the race car.

    Hey Peter.
No there are no plans to race the car again in any form by us. The car last ran at Lake Gairdner in 2002. Running Chuck Sharpe's engine for the second time. I think it ran faster in 2001 and still holds the record for it's class with the banger in it.
The car has been in storage since 2002 and was put away 'wet'. The place of storage was possibly going to be sold. Long story short, the car came to my garage with no real plans for it at all. Although when Chris and Wayne brought the race car here, the 3 of us sat down and discussed it's future; but we didn't come up with a definitive plan for it.
So it was just going to be stored here. But me being me took it upon myself to give it a very thorough clean and partial disassembly during that, to preserve it. As well as that I have been having a 'play' with it, changing wheels and removing some body panels and basically changing it's guise. Along with that I have taken nearly 1000 images of it. Documenting in images the many details of the race car, a lot of which can't be seen when the race car is totally assembled. As well as images of the many guises that it has taken on in the last couple of weeks. So of which I have used on some of the covers lately.

That old race car just seems to keep appearing on magazine covers.

  12. So great to see the car out of the rafters, and with a fresh lease of life, even if not with a specific reason, other than to celebrate idea's and aspirations. As I've said previously, it's a car that has changed my perspective on hot rodding, and forever grateful, for the memories and idea's it has encouraged me to explore.
Maybe it could come up to rattletrap for a weekend on the sand....

Regardless, great to see it in a fresh light of day, whatever that may bring.

Cheers, and still loving the covers,
    Drewfus

Thankyou Drewfus. I like that, 'celebrating ideas and aspirations'.
What I have been doing with our race car and documenting on Facebook, I have truly enjoyed. Even though I have probably bored the hell of a lot of people. The images of the race car are great to see here on the computer, but they come nowhere close to the presence this special race car has when you are looking at it in the flesh, as it were.

I really like the feel of this cover. I guess it makes a bit of a change, not featuring our race car.

Another with a '32 coupe on it. I might be getting back to normal programing!
