The engine in my avatar. 1970 429, .030 over, .509 lift cam, roller rockers plus other goodies. Had a hell of a kick when I hit the loud pedal. .

Wow, I would hate to have paid the bill on all that chrome!!!! I don't think I would have used a 8 inch rear end though.

 

call me crazy but putting the carbs right on top of the exhaust manifolds/headers seems like a bad idea *shrug*. (Heat) looks cool though.

First big Ford I ever owned was this one it was in a 27 -T that I had years ago...car came with a bunch of paper work and alot of receipts from Holman & Moody for engine parts ,machine work and assembly....it moved the T right down the road..... sadly the car was sold and the engine is still around in fact it's in a piece of crap 64or5 fairlane out behind a friend of mines shop covered with blackberry brush and the last time I looked under the hood there was just a chunk of cardboard over the carbs and berry vines all twisted up around it.... not for sale ...he says he goes out and turns it over by hand when ever hes out there ... I don't thinks so....

It is a 9", not 8. The current owner is the one that did the polishing and chrome back in '69. He remembered it vividly after 40 years and wanted it after I finished the resto and showed it for 1 seaason.

Nope. There were actually 2 different pumpkins used throughout the years, but neither was 8". Originally built and shown with the 9", then when it was sold the first time a 9-3/8" replaced it.

Why is there a stuffed beaver sitting atop the air cleaner ?

 

It's a porcupine because the big block Chevys nickname was porcupine because of the canted valves that "looked like porcupine quills".
