I’ve had these for ever and thought I’d post. Along time ago if I remember correctly somebody said Cadillac but I have no clue. They are cast aluminum with a chrome grill. Fairly heavy. I have 2 with same colors so I’m guessing a pair ?
Looks like the air ventilators from the rear of the old Cadillac's. They were on top of the rear fenders right behind the roof.
Intake vents for air cond, in caddys , Lincoln and others . The unit was mounted in the trunk and blew up thru tubes in the package tray.
I always thought they were for gm's blow through ventilation or whatever they called it. I remember a local caddy back in the early 70's with them, I guess it could have been a limo.
OK, I might of been mistaken, was once a long time ago, any way they will/can still make kewl air filters for an inline engine.
I will look and see if there are numbers this week. It’s funny but other than HRP post I’ve never seen a photo or a advertisement. Personally i think it would look odd and goofy and would take away from the lines on the old beasts. I could be wrong.
Odd and goofy is an excellent explanation. Right up there with curb feelers, fuzzy dice and a fox tail on your antenna. Not all '50s stuff was worth recreating....
The vents were used on all Cadillacs, not just the series 75 limousines. Their use ended when the AC was moved entirely under the hood, in 1958.
I have the complete original ac stuff including those vents. I put in vintage air trunk unit and made new tubes , the Lincolns are a long clear tubes up to the headliner. I could not make myself install those vents
In '57 and '58, the vents were used only on the Fleetwood 75. The other models did not have them for those two years.
Saw those on 54 Pontiac and 53 olds factory air cars. Long time ago. Sent from my VS987 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
