Ah, the long lost glory days of yore. A simpler, peaceful time of dreams and hopes. A time where life was a cornucopia of delights. A time where you could get Face Rump for only 33 cents.....

YEP!------At the beginning of WWII, Lakewood was all just bean fields, as neighboring communities were too. Then Douglas Aircraft built all new facilities for the war effort, then came people from all over the USA to man the jobs that were created.

That’s right. Douglas and the other war time plants had phony cities built on their roof to camouflage them in case of a bombing. Those pictures are buried in this thread too.
Dad lived in Hollydale and he said driving from there to moms house in Lakewood, I grew up in the same house as she did, was dairy’s and bean fields. Even when I went to high school in paramount we had dairy’s everywhere, one across the street. Paramount was ‘The hay capital of Ca’ until the late 70s. It’s also in the heart of what has been called ‘Customland’.

That 65 LTD was a fiberglass body used in an ad showing the car on a mountain top by the factory sales dept. It was made into a privately owned funny car afterward.
