Technical 51 dodge coronet

    Got a 51 Coronet 6v flathead 6 cyl looking to replace points to electronic ignition has any one done this cheers

    Keep it 6v + ground and I don't think there is an electronic ignition for it. But, you really don't need it. The stock ignition is very reliable, you might want to check the points and plugs once a year but that is about it. I have had similar cars, and electronic ignition is the last thing I would worry about.

  3. Check with pertronix not sure.

    But great reliable engine, fluid drive transmission in it?

    Put a good tune up in it with points and you will drive a long time.

    Had a 53 Chrysler and installed an 8 volt battery, tweaked the regulator so the generator would charge at 8 volts and that was it great reliable car
    Drove it 3 years as my daily in the summer no issues

  5. Keep a set of points and condenser and a "how to" pamphlet in your trunk or glove box, it doesn't take much space and you won't be stuck on the road if there ever is a failure.
