I wouldn't say "finished" although I have put a few thousand miles on it.
This is what it looks like now,
waiting for the sun to come out so I can stretch it's legs some more

Doing a '26 coupe as a dirt track modified style build. Wide 5 hubs, Frankland quick change, will have a roll cage, keeping it really basic. The body is just sitting on the frame in the pictures (will be 2.5" channel in front and 1" at front of back tires). Tires and wheels will be 5.00-16 ribbed fronts on original Ford wide 5 wheels, rears will be 11.00-16 diamond tread on wheels built with new hoops and original Ford centers. Engine is undecided. One piece hood top and stock 23 grille shell. Have 2 bodies to combine to make one nice one along with a few patch panels. Sitting on a Speedway Model A frame I kind of inherited in a deal.

I'm pleased to report that after a prolonged coma, my T is now at Mercury Charlie's and we're making some real progress, with Charlie guiding me through the metalwork needed to get the floorboards in. So far, I've fabbed a secondary firewall, the transition pieces from the firewall to the floorboards, rounded the front cowl, boxed the subrails, filled all holes in the firewall, filled all the trim holes, hammered and dollied, welded, and done lots of sheet metal cutting and grinding.

After years of letting others do all the hard work, I'm knee-deep in learning how to do it myself, thanks to a unique arrangement with Charlie. I wrote his new website and his Rodder's Jornal ad campaign, and he's returning the hours I spent teaching me to use the metalworking equipment and coaching me through the finer points of the build.

It's been one of the greatest experiences of my life. More to come. Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 12.38.33 PM.png

Do you have a build thread on this fine looking chassis and the rest of the car?

No, not much of the rest of the car yet. Just some rusty roadster panels right now, but a lot of sheetmetal work to come.

I was just looking for wood for a '26 RPU. One ad had all the pieces laid out and labeled. One piece was labeled "top of seat". It wasn't exactly the same, but very close. I'm just about willing to bet that is what that piece is for. But don't know if a stock seat had wood there or not in the coupe. Mine is ash in the wood stove now. Made great kindling.

Interior firewall and toe holds.jpg Midway bodmount #1.jpg
Inner firewall will allow us to route wires behind it and double insulate the firewall to the keep heat down.
    IMG_4249 (1).jpg
The rear corners of the frame now have body mounts that I fabbed from 2"X 2" box steel, angle cut.
    IMG_4248 (1).jpg
We welded 3/8" bolts to the underside then boxed in the angle cut.
    Rear Body tabs #10.jpg
The underside of the bolt heads tap down into two more tabs mounted just aft of
front door jambs on the other frame.
    IMG_4259.jpg
Still need to slightly fine tune the inner firewall, but it wll be removable with tabs and thumb screws.
    IMG_4251.jpg IMG_4249.jpg
Another shot of the Mercury Charlie Zee frame. Next, we will be refining the placement of the rear driveshaft loop, having forgotten that the 9" carrier is offset. Doh!
    IMG_4248.jpg IMG_4211.jpg
Here a shot of the toe-board before installation. Five folds in all. Thankful for having access to a box break.

Still thinking about the three headlight idea. I kinda like it, but it would take a fair share of fabrication to float it of the spring perch.

Nothing real special, just using what I have kicking around the shop. Also put a 9" Ford rear in it.
