just a body- has anyone shipped just a body?

was a title needed or was the body just considered parts?

Please dont speculate. I can guess myself.........lol.

    thanks!

Hopefully someone who has shipped bodies over will chime in or someone who has had bodies shipped to them.
I'd say a type written bill of sale that was highly detailed in the description of what you shipped that was notarized might help the buyer when all is said and done.

  8. There are several people in the UK who bring containers of hot rods and hot rod parts over from the US every month and deal with all the import and export issues for you. Try Kerry Tate for one.

You build a crate around it, hire a broker to do the paperwork and deliver it to him or the docks and off it goes. Bob

The issue is getting it out of the USA.
It needs a bill of sale and a paper trail of ownership.

I've Imported Race Cars from USA to NZ and the issues were at the USA end.
Race cars don't have a title.
A bill of sale and a log book is all I needed, and US Customs and Border Protection issue a cover letter.

Get in contact with Richard Green at R and R Hot rod Imports in NJ. He and his partner Russell in the UK do this everyday. They have shipped multiple cars for me to Europe in all states of repair or otherwise including a 32 body only project. Rich has the answer and also is a dealer for many of the parts companies we all use so can supply and ship the parts also.

Thank you for all of the info. This is for a friend. He was under the guise that he needs a title and I suspect not. Just a body should be the bill of sale as mentioned.

Yes Maxwell was bought by Walter Chrysler. I own a 1907 model in original state.
FYI Kings Point the Merchant Marine Academy was Walters home. My son attended.

Just a body is just parts, so no title required to get it out of the US. Bill of sale could help resolve any ownership queries should they arise. Your shipping agent could advise as they're the ones that effectively police that.

But it might be handy to come with a chassis (or piece thereof) and a title as that should help registration here in the UK.

Yes, he maybe wanting title to help with UK registration process (although as mentioned above, an original chassis with number and title would be better :) unless he already has that?)

    HI Maxwell

Preferably get a notorized bill of sale to get it out of the USA, also recently exported a car from Canada on a notorized bill of sale only.
