Art & Inspiration A picture or it didn't happen!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Ron Funkhouser, Dec 4, 2018.

  1. I don't start many threads. But I like to read the intros, of new members. I like it when they give a short description of their self. If they add a photo of their Hot ROD that's even better. So I'm wondering about some of you? Like what do you drive? and where are your from??? Maybe this has been done? or maybe not? But let's see a PICTURE of what your currently driving, or have owned, and maybe a short description of yourself.:) Thanks Ron.... 058.jpg 272.jpg {Kinda like this}. Hi I'm Ron, I'm from the Shenandoah valley of Va. I have a 1934 Dodge sedan delivery. I'm on the HAMB way too much. I need sleep, and thats why I'm posting this goofy thread.

Hi Ron, and all HAMBers, I am Ken, and live just outside of Detroit, MI. I have a 1955 Chevy that I have owned for 46 years. The first picture is from the Hines Drive cruise that a friend of mine took, and the second picture is me backing the 55 into the garage at the house we recently moved to. This house belonged to my inlaws who built the garage in 1979. When I pulled the car in, it was the first time there had ever been a car in that garage.

  5. I am a car and plane nut from Colorado. I grew up going to car shows, junkyards, and little airports.

Now, I fly for a living in the Air Force and for an airline. My family and two jobs get in the way of car stuff but this message board is pretty solid. I wish there was a similar forum for my b & e body mopar community. However, hot rodders make good company.

I currently have a 60 Chrysler Windsor and a 70 cuda. Both bought for under $3000 as local cars. I am looking for a early 30s Chrysler, Dodge or DeSoto two door coupe eventually, a 66 Chrysler 300 convertible, and 4 door sweptline Dodge truck. Haha.

The Chrysler needs some love and will continue to be my fair weather family daily driver and the cuda is apart for paint.

Live in Hamilton and in the process of selling the house and moving. Into cars my whole life and this site is just the perfect blend of what’s I like.

This is a great thread topic. I often wonder what kind of hot rod the guys with really off-the-wall posts actually drive...

I live in Texas and graduated from High School in 1965, which should give you an idea of my age and the era of hot rod development which so greatly influenced my taste in cars. My current daily beater - weather permitting - is this black coupester which is in its fourth incarnation since I've owned it...and it had many lives before judging by the automotive archaeology it came with. I've got three more roadsters in the works, doing all my own work including fab, bodywork and paint in my own home shop. Even though I qualify as an honest-to-god graybeard I still work for a living every day so I never have enough time to play with the hot rods as much as I'd like. Running errands in the coupester keeps me sane in the meantime.

On it's last real road trip before the 250 got so worn out that it wouldn't start.
1998 At Bonneville. The photo was taken by a Japanese tourist as we took turns taking each other's photos with each other's cameras.
I missed Saturday and Sunday leaving home on Sunday night after having gone to the Run to Roslyn on Sunday. I got to Bonneville on Monday afternoon spent a few hours out on the salt, pitched my tent at the bend in the road and went to town and got an overpriced dinner. There might be someone on here who can tell a story about chasing my tent down on Tuesday when the wind came up in the camp ground and blew it away.
That was a great week with several days at Bonneville, leaving when the rain started on Thursday and having some guy video me coming off the salt though a small lake. After an issue with one of the alternator leads having a bad connection and allowing the battery to go dead and having to ride the Wendover shuttle bus to a shop where I could get the battery charged and getting the scenic ride back to the gas station it was on to Pleasanton for good guys. Too short a stay at Pleasanton and heading back north to home.

But I'm not shy about posting pictures of my Hot Rods. lol:rolleyes:. I'm also a little lazy on looking up everyone's profiles, and intros. But I really Loved all the pictures, and introductions so far { So THANKS!!!!} Also sometimes it can just be an update, of what your doing now. You can never get to many pictures of H.A.M.B. HOT RODs.:) Ron......

    Hi.

I'm Mike. Clarence is my 1948 Ford panel truck. I bought it in 1973 and it's currently down for the (hopefully) last rebuild. First mechanical rebuild was 1991. Top was chopped in 1992. Second mechanical rebuild was in 2016. This time around it's getting new floors, exhaust, seats, upholstery, paint, running boards, door sills, door latches, window mechanisms, gauges, steering column/wheel, a/c, brake pedal & MC, total rewiring, and who knows what else that I'm forgetting.

Next trip will be either SWMO HR100 or SK-500. It'll be Washington Blue then. If you see me please introduce yourself.

Avatar was from the first H.A.M.B. drags. Pic below was at Bonneville just before or after the turn of the century.

  20. Steve here. Possibly the biggest tri five dork around. Ever since I was a kid, my dream car has been a '57 Chevy. Had mine since 1985 and been at it ever since. Like Dreyfus in Close Encounters, driven to build the vision in my head.

Ron, this better not be a 12 step program. Because I don't have a problem. Really. Well, maybe a little one.

Hi, I'm Frank... in more ways than just a name:eek: And I'm a 19 year kid old stuck in a much older chassis..:(
..Everybody's probably sick of seeing my car by now, but screw em'. Lol. Here is an hour ago, I'm babysitting a burn pile so my friend could go to 2nd shift job. The road ahead is Nathan Hale Rd, where he lived before he was hanged by the British as a spy 1776 for George Washington's Continental army. I'm kind of a patriotic person, and just missed a pic of a genuine American Bald Eagle sitting in a big tree at my home.
How'd I do with THIS "off the wall post"? o_O

my user name describes my life, I am Steve, retired from the Omaha 911 center in 2003 after 25 years, most on the busy midnight shift, just recently moved to the Denver area. my retirement project was what I would have built my 1st 40 standard tudor like if I hadnt sold it in 1972. the yellow one is the 1st one, black one is my retirement project, current ride.

  23. The '40 Ford has the most beautiful front end. Made for flames. Few other vehicles can pull it off as well.

Here is where I am from, T boned from a drunk driver.

Here is my rehab project, not exactly a hot rod, more like physical therapy to get a shop truck to build a hot rod. One step at a time.
I came out pretty good, 3 weeks in hospital and then physical rehab and then back home, 4 months before I could walk without a stroller again ... passenger they would have died. I will never work again.

I been hanging around here a bit and I like to poke the bear, You wait and see, I will get the stance and wheels just right, The exhaust on the flathead 6 will need 2 mufflers, The paint will be cheap but thats just the way I fly :D
