Started this thread off last month talking about tube shocks on my CCPU. Had to rework the front lower mounts to get enough travel. Finished up last week and well worth the effort when it comes to ride and handling.

Can't tell you how many (mostly stock) Bangers I cross paths with up here are shockless.
The times I've inquired about it, I've been asked.."Do you think they'd make a difference?"
!?!

I think we had 1, maybe 2 sunny days this Nov...when it wasn't sunny, it was rainin or snowin...don't think I'll take the BNGR to cut a this year....Have a Bang-Up Christmas!

Does anyone here run dual updraft Zenith carbs? Will they work with headers, or are the carbs in the way of the downtubes, primarily the center two?

I do. You have to run stock manifold. Or make a custom header but it would be pretty tight bends to get the inner cylinders to exhaust. I run tilly X carbs though.

 

I don’t think there’s room.
Reds makes headers for single down draft, but probably won’t work for duals.
Otherwise, I’d guess you could split stock headers.
I can’t remember where I got this pic, but it was probably from the hamb.

 

I'll double that...and I'm close by.

 

Thanks for the photo JT1930. I figured the center two cylinder header tubes would have to be really tight, probably so tight it would have quite a negative effect, being more visual than beneficial. Two updrafts is a good look for sure...and I think Jim Brierely spoke well of that setup in his book. I'm unfamiliar with "tilly X" carbs....I'm curious what are they off of and/or what the throttle plate diameter is compared to a stock A Zenith? Looks like the carb throat of the rear carb is really close to the exhaust. Air cleaners or maybe just some screens?

That's a pretty simple intake you posted, walls. I think I could knock one of those out in a couple hours.

I have screens on my carbs. Either tillotson carbs or zeniths it will be close. Unless you find a Trojan intake I saw for sale a little while ago with two zeniths on it. I believe that updraft intake is a little further out from the motor.

there is a guy on here (cant remember) that builds really nice intake & exhaust systems (custom) ……….

 

That does look like it has a lot more room for header tubes, but it's a bit on the "steak" side of my self-imposed "hamburger" budget. If I'd decide I really want dual updrafts, more than likely I'll fab an intake and header. It can be tedious and time consuming, but it would also be rewarding to build.

Well, I know I could sure use a new exhaust, and hopefully get these damn E brake issues sorted, thinking i have a warped or bent backing plate for one of them, put the shoes on, had to clearance the hell out of the shoes, then try to tighten the drum and locked, back the nut off and turns again. So that's on my agenda hopefully this month. Then moving to steering ball replacements hopefully in January.

Hi guys, can a newbie horn in and ask a couple of quick questions? I picked up this ‘30 (I believe) five window coupe in a local auction a couple of weeks ago.

I am now collecting parts and am out of my knowledge “comfort zone”.

An ad for a “model b Ford” out of an “old model a hot rod” showed up this week;





I am super cheap, is $1200 a decent price? Can you tell if this is a “b”? Any help/advice is appreciated.

Yes its a b. If you look closely you can see they have a plate bolted on where the fuel pump would go and the valve cover is taller.
