Great to see the old kiwi shots. I've always been a Bruce Maclaren fan felt he has never got the recognition he deserves when Ford GT40 first won at Le Mans. He's hardly ever mentioned in his home country of NZ these days even though he's left a great legacy.

Just catching up on the photos been posted of Bruce and all the old kiwi rods. Noticed the 34 & 35 Ford Coupe stockcars in Auckland looks like Wairaka Park? or Western Springs. Had an uncle who use to race stock cars back in those days at the park.

Concerning the flat 12 rail - two zephyr 6's put together it wasn't the McConnachie Brothers. It was Max Numby or Mumby and his mate Clarkson who both ran BanTrans Engineering Penrose Auckland. They were challenged by Ron Hogan (Hogan Heads and manifolds for SV V8's) to make something themselves when they tried to buy a Cadillac v8 engine off him to go drag racing. The 12 never ran well with the triple carb setup seem to go ok with the single carb though.

I must be of the age where steam was gone before I started paying attention,I do not remember ever seeing a steal locomotive on the tracks and do remember seeing those early diesels.
