This is the Young fella in that original B&W thumbnail pic in a later hotrod build he had on the go put into Mobility by @Eli603 back in 2016 at TROG...pretty moving moment for that man...great stuff Eli.

It is interesting that while that thumbnail yard build was a chevy with springs removed axles to frame direct mimicking a look that is very popular today...

Here's the circle of Hamb at work again...I was reading that article on Buddy Hinman and I see Eli mentioned and I thought there's a Hamber Eli with that old 32 Coupe and a bit of searching and sure enough @Eli603 connects the dots...

Here is a link to the thread about the Hotrod posted by Hamber @Pete

No the bottom roadster has a relation to the story though. Buddy Hinman is in that Chevy Roadster as a young man...he had ditched the springs in a I guess a very crude way to get that lower Hotrod look and it was a yard Hotrod that did drive around albeit very crudely.

Buddy's Father then bought a A sedan that they Hotrodded.

The Ford roadster body was given to him
by his Uncle and was swapped onto the A Sedan chassis replacing the original sedan body.

I believe it was roadworthy and was traded away only to be repurchased again and many years later ended up in Hamber Eli's hands and was brought back as a TROG racer and reunited with Buddy for a reunion hands on...feet on pedals and given it a workout.

What happened to the Cool Chevy Highboy...I hate to think but have a pretty good idea...:(.

The story is here below and Eli's thread above through Hamber Pete.

I thought the bottom one was Ford but couldn't see the body lines in the photo.
A guy I knew from Byron CA took the front spring off of his '36 Ford coupe to lower it. He wrapped the axle with old inner tubes and used long U-bolts to hold if in place. Great stance but rough ride. It didn't stay that way very long.

That's wild...sounds as if he drove it on the road like that......Buddy I think did his Driving in the yard or field and he does mention it being sorta rough.

Perhaps that preceded the actual mods done to properly lower things...it was a quick way to achieve that low slung look for visualization. Back then low was a lesser desired look or stance it seemed...but Buddy knew better...;)

Yes it's homemade. He lives about 5 mi from me and he built it a number of years ago in his high school shop class. His dad has a deeply chopped 27 T sedan with a Hemi known as The Mint Monster

That's where the Traditional lean is coming from...it reminds me of a Hotrod I posted quite a ways back in the thread and it was at a military airbase.

He built that in school...Like I said...This fella is a torch carrier moving forward...wonder what he'll get up to next time around. Thanks for connecting the dots Phat...@ratamahata will find that info enlightening.

Thanks for chiming in @T-DeWitt...your Hotrod You say is Homemade I understand, but there is a vintage body wrapped up in the Homemade isn't there? The holes on the Cowl and Shell look like welting attach points. So it looks to be something based on a 1928ish origin.

Congrats on the award back then and meeting one which shares your interest. Was this a vision you had or was there a inspirational Hotrod you saw somewhere that got the creative juices going? Are you in the Military or was the theme again based on something you saw with a connection?

I never did locate that pic within this thread with the airforce themed Hotrod. This thread is large and finding stuff isn't always easy. Heck there's the odd x'd out loss of pic that is disappointing but happens as well unfortunately.

Anyhow thanks in advance...I'm just curious.
