That listing is now 22 days old, I suspect that no title and trashed out are keeping the buyers away.

There was a neat custom stude in Livermore Ca, owner called it Rocketeer. It was nicely proportioned if I remember correctly

  3. I really like that. Totally different look and i´m not sure it´s a vast improvement on stock, but it looks really good.

May I ask to which vehicle you are referring?

  5. Ah sorry, i meant the car with the ´bird bumper on it.
I was looking at the bottom of the last page, without realising there were more comments after it.

If you're talking about this one that was called The Rocketeer, it has a bullet nose front end with a 50 bullet and 51 grill but I could never find out what the real story was about this cool custom with the fastback roof .....

I agree that it is not necessarily an improvement over the stock 53-55 styling, but it still looks better than most customs I have seen. In my estimation, the real reason to do the bird bumper is because the front end on a 55 Stude is chrome over pot metal castings. These are often busted up and cracked or are badly pitted. Good replacements for the coupe are pretty much unobtanium. Having a set rechromed is thousands of dollars. The bird bumper is not a bad choice if your fender and hood are in good condition and you don't want/can't find/afford a different year coupe/hawk grille and hood.

I was only trying to point out that the Rocketeer I knew of was not a 53-55.

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting that anyone here should run out any buy this heap. I does however look to be a rust free desert car and it has some good parts on it. It has a supercharger bracket and crank pulley, though the air box and the supercharger itself are gone. It appears to have a wcfb carb. It also has headers that exit thru the holes hacked in the inner fenders.
If it wasn't a 34 hour drive and back for me to go get it I would consider making the guy an offer on it.

Had to send him a email to get some more info on that car.

Hey @Norrland let us know what you find out about this ride. Like I said, not my cup of tea, but someone had a vision and did a whole lot of work to make it reality.

Too many Stude customs look like the Mona Lisa with a mustasche.

The mother bought the car new. Gave it to the son he modified it then got sick and passed away. Car has been in garage for 40yrs and the sister was the executor of his property. I bought car from her.
Car has normal rust for a ‘53. Not to bad.

Back in the day, a friend of mine had a green stock bodied 53 Stude coupe with a Pontiac 389, 37 big Buick floor shift with Atlas Bucrons. A pretty quick streetcar. Wish we had digital phones back then to have so we could have taken pictures.

bored at work this morning, so surfing craigslist for Studes, turns up this gem. It falls into the "not my cuppa" category for me, but it is somewhat tastefully done, some here may like it.

Interesting roof/window modification. Is that a modified Shoebox Ford Coupe roof ?
I like the quarter window in particular. Thanks for sharing

I guess I'm weird,I love the hard tops{not others}wish I still had one.. Seen few cars I've thought better body designed then these. It's for me at lest, why all the custom attempts I look at,look like a fail at being better then it was to start with from Studebaker as made.!!! Owned 4 Studys at def. times,a 53,54, n a 55 Speedster* my fav. Plus a 57 Golden Hawk that was,bad timing for me,an gave to mother in law{ But wished I kept GH. Point being, the only custom mod that seem to be good to me was a 2in. chop to top, or taking it off. Who ever did this red one, really did it right to my eye ! 1953customStudy.jpg

Is this car based on a two door sedan or a C body.
