What do you guys do with these lower firewall corners?

Car is a 31 Ford coupe. Previous owner recessed the firewall in a big triangle for distributor clearance. Engine is sbc. Concept for car is flat black primered car, forever under modification. Not intentionally ratty, aka rat rod, but rather, a fun car that is never finished: a source of fun, not stress.

I’m prepared to just leave this area ragged, because with it open, it can dry our and not trap moisture. But is there a more creative way to deal with this ugly area?

My buddy has made a floor and trans tunnel for the car. It all fits nicely on the inside of the car. It’s the external unfinished lower corners that I’m hoping to get ideas on. Hoping a friend will post a few pics of how they handled it.

That's just the way they are. Once your motor is in you won't see it.

Clean and paint. Don't make things more complex than they need to be.

  7. Nearly every Model A I've seen had rust damage in those spots.
Just tidy them up. You won't see them once everything is in the engine compartment.

If it bothers you, why not just clean them up & cap them(just be sure to put drain holes)
