I was reaching for the newly relocated knob for the defogger, and poked my hand in the wrong place. Lesson learned...very quickly....

  4. And you plan to install it in what?

1931 Model A Coupe. Unless I decide to use that 392 hiding in the background of the second photo in my post (post #437).

The La Salle would make a nice robot hauler.

Yeah, probably be pretty useful if you had some corpses to move too.

I'd shorten that puppy up, taking out that rear side door, and make a two door out of it, then cram a big 470 Caddy in it. It'd look kinda like a sedan delivery with that rear door. Maybe Moose can photoshop a pic of what it would look like.

look at the roof line. That would all have to be changed, to make it look right, shorter. I had that idea 20+ years ago, it looked like a lot of work then, and it still does.

  13. Removing the center doors would make the Hood look a mile long. I think it is what it is. I think a little Drop and fresh paint then do a Lemo treatment inside with Wet Bar.

I wouldn't call it perfection, but it is good enough. We have no plans to do anything to the body. If you have a good idea, and want to give it a go, I'll give you my brother's contact info, and you can buy the car and give it what you think it needs.

I don't remember. I think I stuck a tape measure on it, but I forget what it said.

It was getting around 9-10 mpg, but we never did add up the miles we drove. My guess is it was around 5000 miles.

I asked David about that today, he said it would be a lot of work to figure it all out.

Thanks, I was just curious about the approximate miles per gallon. Of course I have to multiply that by 5/4 to convert to our gallons.

With that body it would probably be a good start to making a stretch limo.

It's all relative, with 4.56 gears behind my 440 at a 70 mph cruise on the highway, 10 miles per gallon is a good day.

My 37 caddy will only give me 9-10 mpg on a good day,i only put 1000 miles a season on it,not really a big deal.Mine is all stock, not sure of the rear gears? Your trip is something a lot of us dream about being able to do.Im in PEI canada about 3500 miles from you and have about 10 inches of snow on the ground here.:( Going to be a while before i can drive mine again.
