Finally tore down the 409 today. Been in storage since the early 80s. Was bought as a crate motor in 62 and installed in a 60 Biscayne. All date matching , appears to have never been apart , standard GM bearings etc. Even had the dual steel shim head gaskets in place. Factory Hi Po heads and all. Very pristine engine ,still had cross hatch in the bores . Good day in my book:cool:

I need a rolling welding table so I can move the welding process outside when needed. The last couple days I build one and tomorrow starts the painting process. When complete I will post a couple photos of the process. I an tooling up to start my 40 build but need to make sure all the tooling is ready first. There will be a couple more before I bring the frame in to start the rolling chassis build.

Cut-and-pasted a rear seat base, to clear a taller, wider driveshaft tunnel, without disturbing the plane of the seating surface, although I wouldn't try sitting in the middle.

Yesterday I removed the valve covers of the 27 Phaeton and masked them and put 2 coats of primer. Took forever to mask.

I just mask the sides, prime everything, use a medium stiffness block sanding block wrapped in a rag with a little thinner and wipe one direction until the primer is clear of the fin tips. Repeat after you apply the topcoat.

Broke in a 403 olds on the run stand, And Took my daily driver 56 PU to a local park for a photographer to shoot Christmas card Pics . Had a blast watching the kids jump around in the bed and stand on the stepsides getting their pictures taken, the photographer set up sleds and a small Christmas tree in the back with presents. Good day in my book.:D By the way, not my kids ,think she must have shot 30 different families .Fun to watch all the youngsters enjoy the truck.

Spent half the day working on my step-son's OT truck and the other half getting stuff moved into my newly enclosed shop. I'm one roll-up door and a heater away from being able to start wiring my '51 shoebox.
