Technical p.s in a 1951 mercury

    i have a 1951 mercury i would like to install power steering.. i see two typs of kits one use,s a jeep p.s unit the other a borgeson box. has any one used either of these. were you able to keep the orig. colum

    I used the Borgeson unit in a 66 Mustang a couple of years ago. Worked like a champ; they design a good kit. Yes I kept the original column, the shaft got changed.

    Just be sure to follow their recommendation for the pump that goes with the box you choose. Pumps & boxes can vary greatly in their pressure and volume specs, and too much variation=bad driveability.
