Nice project, looking forward to following the updates. I collected 80% of the parts to build a 1937 Harley just like the one my Dad bought new, good to see you building something like your Dad would have built. Bob

Thank you, Bob. That's really cool that you built a bike like your Dad's. I would love to see that bike. My Dad was also a biker and my brother still has his Harley that the Old Man adored. In a way it's like they live on through the cars and bikes that they loved!

Did you clean all that steal with a media blaster or did you use a grinder?

Also, how much of the front side of the gas tank did you have to remove?

EB8A5F7E-F2D1-4069-B998-F15BEA92A3D1.jpeg I removed 4 inches of the gas tank , I used a 36 grit 4 inch disk to remove some of the paint and to clean the the welds. Took a phishing hammer to help straighten out . Still not perfect but it will do as I’m putting a hood on this coupe. I used air craft paint stripper on the rest of the car.

I love the look of it reversed and not having to worry about the distributor being so close and not being able to run a mechanical fan. I ll cut the tunnel in it will I fit the body to the frame.

Great info. I think I want to attempt that as well. I want to run an HEI distributor and that distributor is about as big as they come so Ill need the room.

Very nicely done, and I did notice you took the time the cut out the center and keep the bead work facing forward, nice work. Bob

Okay, for the life of me I can't find the thread showing a belt line repair. Maybe someone will post a link if they run across it.
I found the patch again on Snyder's site here:
    https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/belt-line-patch
It's not exactly plug and play but better than nothing. I also considered scabbing the bead from a rear sedan door. Can't give them away and the bead looks to be the same.

I bought some of those beltline strips... they are not crisp enough... the beads are rolled not stamped...
larger bead was way too shallow... but... better than nothing at all.

This happened to me, don't worry, save it with loc-n-stich.

I just got it bored, and somehow overlooked it. The machinist missed it also.... But after the repair, 8 years later, it's still good!
