History what and why ?

been on here for awhile just takin it all in and enjoying the site...especially all the east coast history, but my question is...whats up with the blue box w/the red X in a lot of posts ?

 

it's a link to a picture somewhere on the internet, that isn't there any more. Usually the result of someone using a third party image hosting site (such as photobucket) in the past, and the service changing since then.

 

Really annoying when someone provides pics for their thread and all you see is x's

 

I'm glad that I never see my ex.
