Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by buickwagon, Nov 21, 2018.

  1. hi guys, Just rebuilding a basically stock 401 Nailhead and looking for camshaft recommendations.

    401, bored 030, headers, 2 x BIG 97 carbs, 200R4 auto with a 2200 rpm stall
    750 x 16 rear tires.
looking for something better than stock but still quite driveable

any suggestions ? (or what not to use)

Call Jerry Cantrell at Schneider Cams. He will ask you a laundry list of questions but it will help him give you just the perfect grind for your car, motor, gears, and trans. Jerry has been grinding ALL my cams from stock to sprint cars, to Bonneville for lots more years than I care to count and never led me or my customers awry. He is at (619) 297-0227. Good luck

I Have a 401 nailhead and sp400 trans in my roadster pu.
Ross martin of Centerville auto just built a 425 for me.
He advised against a radical cam for the street, as the RPU is
a light car. He recommends a regrind on the wildcat cam. I do have a
nailhead comp cam if your interested. P1010002.JPG
