Called Gear Drive to check on some headers for a 215 Buick. He told me he is no longer making headers. As in for any engine. Was going to be focusing on other work. I was sad to hear it as I had planned to get headers from him. I was just too slow. Guess I will have to try and make a set. Any body know of a good kit other than Speedway. Otherwise I will have to try to fab some up from miscellaneous parts.

As you probably have fount out, nobody makes headers for the 215. D&D (www.aluminumv8.com) may still sell a set of huggers. I made a set out of the small block Ford kit sold by Speedway and it worked out very well.

I have since added cutouts and Porter mufflers.

I bought a set of Hedman from D&D when I picked up my motor. They won't fit my model A chassis. I have built SBC and SBF from Jegs kits. So I will use these Hedmans as a starting point and go from there. I can get a flange pattern from them if nothing else. Thanks for the pictures and reply.

    That’s really too bad.
I looked at gear drives website and the headers and pictures are all gone.

I’m glad he built my set for my RPU.
They’re beautiful in the driveshaft style.

I’d really appreciate hearing this directly from Matt.

Hopefully he’ll come on and post about this.

    He's not out-of-business.

He stopped making headers due to the slow economy, in regards to them.

He's working on casting aluminum hot rod parts now.

He posted on Instagram, I think he's taken on another job and just doesn't have the time to do headers. He's getting more into casting and will continue doing that, and will keep his header tooling and some day may start doing them again.

He told me I got his last header. He said he may do some later on if he has time.

Call him back and ask if he has flanges for sale, or any known tubing from that header set, its a start

My headers as delivered and then after ceramic coating with the rest of the exhaust system.

I’m very glad that I had him build my headers custom made for my Y block 26 RPU.

If that's directed at me.....nope. After 52 years of welding, my eyes don't tolerate it much anymore. Still do some small stuff now and then.....but need my eyesight for other things.;)
