Does anyone know where to find/buy these? I've searched, called and visited stores to no avail. I'm looking for the ones that go on original 40 Ford wheels with the inside nubs.
I think you are referring to the stainless accessory like on this coupe. Sorry I have no idea where to get them or if they are even reproduced Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes they are called spider cap rings and Speedway has them, probably some other suppliers as well here is the link I am thinking about running them as well. Hobo Jim https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Spider-Ring-for-O-E-Style-Wheels-10-1-8-Inch,54986.html
I have a new set of mini trim rings that fit the 10-1/8" diameter nubs and won't be using them after all. Not sure what the '40 wheel nub diameter is, but if you can use them, PM me. Bob
So I know there are two styles on the market at this time - the spider ring by Speedway and Bob Drake does a reproduction of the original 1940-41 Ford accessory ring. My problem is I want the narrow spider ring, but I don't believe it will fit an original 40 wheel, as the inside diameter is 8 1/8", with nubs on the inside. The Speedway ring gives a 10 1/8" outside diameter, but the wheel is a repro wheel that is doesn't have the slope of the 40 wheels. The Drake item is cool, but bigger than what I was looking for as it covers from the what would be the edge of a hubcap all the way to the vents.
Most all of them are "beautiful.......on the inside"! I bought those rings and spider from Honest Charley's about a hundred years ago. I think HC has "downsized" some what since the 60's but it might be worth a shot to try'em. 6sally6
