Hey guys... I'm fine with some foreign pre-65 cars get posted on this thread so long as it's relevant in a way... Meaning, I don't wanna see a bunch of mercedes and porsche and... but a NZ drag race with some weird shit racing a ford? I'm cool with that.

  7. What make of car is this?
In the late 60s and early 70s, Honest Charlies and Nickey Chevrolet, were my primary places for parts.

    Thanks for chiming in Ryan

Just to clarify [from you being our "fearless leader"] would this also apply to Vintage Road Racing shots where most cars were home built ?
eg: this car [which is still alive today powered by a USA Lycoming aircraft engine]

    Duncan Rutherford, Lycoming Special.jpg

sometimes formula cars that are drag raced here [usually when some "hotshot" bought the latest racing car down under] the first thing they did was test it on the 1/4 mile
Or the promoters would organise match race them against the local heroes.

Sometimes Hotrods were road raced, it was the our DIY approach [which developed into world class skills] Our DIY fabricators back then liked to take on the world

I know that Hotrodding has it's grassroots in drag racing, but in NZ and Australia this wasn't so "black and white"

This is a closed street drag race

The rope safety barrier between the power poles is a giveaway here , And driving on the RH "wrong" side of the road.
The car in front was raced by a work colleague of my late father.
