I guess the 62 was my favorite year. I have had several of them. Here is my current one 008.JPG 006.JPG

I've had a couple of '62s (one a bubbletop:eek:), so I lean that way as a rule. Fan of all three years. I've a serious jones for a 2dr post of that era. Wish I'd jumped on one when they were the unwanted step-child of the bunch...:(

I had a 63 4 door for a day or two before pulling the engine for another car years ago, I also had a nice black 64 SS 327 4 spd...but the 62s were my favorite for years, however Im leaning back towards the 63s these days so I could almost flip a coin between the 62 and 63.......... I like the 4 doors sometimes better depending on the car...
A 62 4 door has always been a favorite 4 door for me.

May be just me but it seems like a good percentage of these cars have been scooped up by the lowrider crowd creating somewhat of a general thinking of em, Dont get me wrong I like a lot of that stuff too, not into the 13 inch daytons etc. on em, but.... it does seem like they have grown to almost have more of a following there than they do in traditional hot rodding these days.

Yes agree with you low budget they do tend to be prime for low riders, but i still think they look real nice stock even. The ss is really my favorite i think chevy really did it right in those years.

I have been beating on a 62 BelAir for about 4 years now, but 63 has to be my favorite.

  8. This was our family car, Learned to drive in it, took my wife (first and only girl I dated) to the prom in it. Only difference is ours was Powerglide, not 4-speed. Shifter was on console like this one, just auto. Absolutely gorgeous car.

GM showed its epic disconnection with its fan base when they failed to produce 50 year tribute editions of iconic '55 through '63 Chevies.

However this car shared the really weird X-frame chassis with all previous ones back to '59s. I helped my grandson do a frame-up restoration of a '59 Elky so am intimately familiar with this chassis.

For me its the '63. Never understood the fascination with '62 or the '64, still don't.
In '64 I traded my '57 210 HT, modified production car (straight across), for a white 327 Impala at a used car lot, (owned by my father-in-laws best friend). Blue interior. Added a set of Keysotnes, & polished her out. Best family car I ever drove.

62 SS black on red like the one I had in HS. I'll dig a photo out of my family albums and post it up first chance I get. I think I only have B/W photos of it.

I bought this 64 Sport Coupe in the late 80's from a fellow worker who bought it from the (nearly) original owner, a local farmer, you could tell it too because of the hard water spots in the glass from the well water, took a bunch of work to get them out.
It was a completely untouched original low optioned, 327/250 hp car with column shift three speed, he sold it because he didn't like the column shift and was not likely to change anything on it.
But I sure could, I had it about a week and started collecting all the parts for a four speed changeover. I also wanted to make it a stock looking installation; so I found a Muncie (69) and pieced together a correct factory shifter, and changed the side cover to the early style to work with the early shifter, even found a nice used original four speed shift boot.
I FINALLY found a floor shift steering column in Idaho, even found some matching textured turquoise rattle can paint to match the original, that's pretty much all I did to it other than the rally wheels and period correct T/A's.
I'm usually more horsepower oriented but that really made that car fun to drive.

One unique & classy '62 you have there Oilguy. I admire it every time you post it.
My second was a black over red non SS. 283/3 on the tree. $1300 early 80s. N.C. car so it was pretty clean compared to the local fair. Put a Muncie in it and damned if somebody decided they wanted it more that I did. Hindsight's a...

This is the twin to my 64 I had, only mine had keystones, but pretty new paint and all, I bought it for 900 bucks around 1988,
A bargain even then I thought.and from a used car lot at that, but they usually didnt deal with older stuff like this.

  22. 62, 63 or a 64 has been on my bucket list forever. Never found the right one or a dollar short or a day too late or bad timing was against me. Wound up with a 65 Impala SS but it just didn't spin my crank. Still keeping an eye open.

Had a bunch of 62-64's. This is my 64 Biscayne that has all original paint, chrome and stainless. Was stored for over 40 years. IMG_0812.JPG

I've always liked the 62 the best since I was a Sophomore in high school when they came out. One of the ladies here in town that was probably in her 40's then and quite a good looking gal bought a gold one new and then dyed her hair to match. She had that car until I got drafted and then I lost track of it.
I had a black 62 in Texas for a couple of years that was just a 283 glide car but a nice driver. Had a 63 Ragtop that I traded for after I moved back up here that I drove for a while until someone with more money than I thought it was worth made an offer on it. It didn't have a back window and winter was coming on so it went away for something that was warmer to ride in. I went though a hell of a lot of cars in that time frame and several had the same engine. As I found a better body I swapped my engine and trans into it and went again.

Thank you! The only things I replaced of the interior are the kick panels and the rear package tray, they were warped a bit by humidity. Carpet , headliner, doorpanels and seat covers are all from 1962. I love that old car smell, hahaha

    Nice wagon.
But it is screaming "please put the 63 dog dish hub caps on me instead of these".
You may know it but those 63 caps are hard to find in anything near nice condition.
When you find nice ones they bring good money.
