The problem here in NZ is our car culture back then was a close knit community that overlapped.
So hot rodding has roots from a mix of European racing, USA speedway, and Drag racing. It was very common back then to see the same faces at all forms of the sport.

NZ was a British colony that had ties to England, but during WWII there were USA military bases all over NZ and USA cars everywhere. But being a " rock" in the middle of nowhere, NZers had to use their fabrication skills for special parts etc.
That paid off later in the early 60's onwards when just about every race team in the USA and UK had NZ employees.
Unfortunately some people think this is the sole domain for American Cars [like Anglias]
I've deliberately posted a couple of photos of some USA built racing cars that got deleted because nobody knew what they were.

The whole point of this forum is to promote dialogue and discussion between members [some of our memories get it wrong ,and some members correct us]

Edit: Attached is a photo to explain what I meant [please focus on the Ford Roadster #23 in the foreground, not the MG at the background] [the photo is 1956]
This is a good example of a Hotrodder racing in a mixture of GP cars and Sportscars

You'll be OK as you're from CT.

An off topic car is acceptable here if there is a female movie star sitting in it. So post away [the more scantily clad the better] [IMG]

May I make a suggestion, Get in touch with Moriairity and make your point there. He knows the rules inside and out and is very reasonable. He's deleted some of mine but there was an explanation.
I know you guys don't wear grass skirts and throw spears at each other (great line you wrote.)

That is the secret we like to keep.. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :D

I added/edited a photo to my posting you replied to, and you will see what I meant.
There is a Ford Roadster racing Grand prix cars and Sports cars in the same race.

This is what our history was like

So how the hell do you do that with a homebuilt sprintcar when nobody back then had a assembly line package [eg: Gambler chassis]

Here you go, this photo is definitely on topic [just like a Briggs Cunningham, or Shelby Daytona]
