Ford FE 332 -428 1958 thru 1974 Chrysler/Dodge Wedge 1959 thru 1964 ? Edit: Sorry but forgot the early smaller SBC engines How about other brands? Tucker, Packard, Rolls Royce, Cadillac. etc...……………... Please help me correct or add other V-8 Engine dates pre 1965 origin I don't need the new 302 Ford Chevy LS or newer Hemi or any of the BMW/Mercedes/Toyota V8"s blah, blah blah Thanks for input Movin/on
The Charles Kettering Twins: Olds & Cadillac OHV8s in 49. These should have been at the top of your list right under the Flathead Ford.(as far as Traditional Hot Rodding goes) The Olds Rocket was King for quite a long time.
Here are the dates for Generation I small blocks thru 1969. The dates are for the Model Years in which they were installed. Actual dates for production start mid summer, the year prior and there was some post sales production for the purpose of warranty and over the counter sales. The last figures are the available horsepower range for that engine. 265 1955/1957 162/240 283 1957/1967 170/315 327 1962/1969 210/375 302 1967/1969 290 350 1967/1969 295/350 307 1968/1969 200 307,350 production continued past 1969 along with 262,267,305 and 400, but those probably are beyond Hamb boundaries.
Yes, Chevrolet did have a V8 in 1917 but sold the rights (not sure that’s the correct term) to Cadillac. At that time Cadillac was not part of the GM family. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Don't leave out DeSoto and Dodge hemis, from the early '50s to 58, the Plymouth/Dodge polys in the '50s, Buick nailheads, Pontiacs starting with the 287 in '55, throw in the Studebaker 289, Rambler V-8s. What else? I'd leave the International Harvester V-8s out of this.
Hi Osage Orange.Don`t forget the early Studebaker V8`s of 232 CI from the early 50`s. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
Cadillac flathead V8's from 1915 through 1948. Cadillac was part of GM in 1909 and was building a V8 two years before Chevrolet.
Ford Flathead 1932 thru 1953 Chrysler Hemi 331-392 1951 thru 1958 Chevy SBC 265-350 1955 thru 1999 but still being made in Mexico Ford FE 332 -428 1958 thru 1976 Chrysler/Dodge Wedge 1958 thru 1978 for the big blocks is what I remember. But I could be wrong.
