    Does the shaft push, pull, turn?
    Some are scored like that so they can be cut to that length. Check it with an ohm meter, let us know what it measures. It looks like standard 1/4" spade terminals.

    A search on the number doesn't show anything. I'm going to say non automotive an maybe a temp probe.

    My mind is certain it's a thermal switch. It appears to go in a dry well so it can be changed without draining fluid from the system. Grooves are likely to be for some sort of retainer. Probably not automotive, more likely HVAC.

    I bet it is a temperature control. It looks like those are temp ratings on the body. I would put a continuity tester between the connections and see if they open or close at those temp settings.

    reminds me of a old soldering iron once had, or possible heating element for a old water heater?

  21. I did just recently remove an electric fan from one of my old cars. I have no memory of that part but there are a lot of things I don’t remember. I think?
