I enjoyed this, been watching it all week. Great vision!

I think your kids had just as much fun as you did.

    Thanks guys.
With the kids it’s tough, you spend so much time in the garage that any way I can include them I try.
    They do love it though.

At the bottom of the roll bar is a tube that goes to each side, where the seat hoop frame attaches. I just made up some tab brackets that welded to that tube. I welded nuts to the bottom of the bracket.

  12. Just read the whole thread, really great job. Car looks and sounds so good. Enjoy the heck out of it. Maybe I will see you at Deuce Days, I have heard it is not to be missed, especially if it might go away, as I too have heard.
Having built my roadster from the ground up I know how difficult it can be to stick with it, for me it seemed so overwhelming at times. The more I got done, the more there seemed to be left to do. Congratulations on seeing it through, you've got a real cool hot rod. That you built.

  13. Wow - what a great thread! You could be a technical writer/editor for a car mag. Is SK a French speaking part of Canada? I did 6 months living in Chertsey, 1 1/2 hours outside of Montreal. I hated to leave & learned some French to boot.o_O Merci Beau Cooo!
P.S. - love the rumble seat opening deck lid, a very nice touch!!

Thanks! I agree, there were times when the budget was dry and the list was long that I wished I started with something easier.
I kept telling myself that if I could see it through that I could do anything.

Thanks, you are too kind. I’m more amateur at writing than car building, and that says a lot.
We are directly above North Dakota and Montana. The opposite side of Canada. As much as I like living here we lack anything that you would not want to leave.

Thanks for the replies and all the likes guys. I somehow got into the top 10 in likes for the past seven days. That’s pretty rad!

Trying to get some work done to it this weekend. I got the drivers side wood kit in, quarter window and rear window mouldings chopped and fitting good. Also started making glass templates.
I had to sand the door wood to get the quarter window right so everything is pretty dusty right now.

Might be all I get done, as the honey do list is piling up.

On a side note, if you don’t have a tool like this you need to make one. I’ve saved so many fasteners that were doomed because of it.

That thing is sweet! I guess it's the same idea as one of these. This is what I use.

I have one of those as well, but the air hammer kills it. It’s amazing how well it works. Plus you tailor the air pressure to the size of your fastener. I’ve taken out fasteners that you would think would be impossible. Wish I would have discovered this earlier.

Nice! I love hand made tools that fill a void in the tool world or that out perform an intended tool. Thanks

I read from beginning to end tonight- nice job on the coupe! I really like what you did with the frame - nicely packaged and plenty stout.

Thanks, it’s a common theme with me.. when you can’t engineer it, just keep adding steel.

I too just read your whole thread. Car looks awesome and your fab/metal work skills appear something to definitely be proud of!! I hear you on the shipping/Canadian dollar rate. I am in British Columbia, just outside Vancouver so I have to deal with the border too. I'm in the middle of a long build also so I know what you mean when you say you had long time periods waiting for parts cause you were saving. Well all that waiting and perseverance has paid off!

    Good Job and well done!
