And this chap is standing next to a life-size cardboard cut-out of Jenks, who is holding the Duesy's crankshaft!

 

Is that a straight eight crankshaft? I can't see things so good on this computer screen.

13 journals can be counted, so subtract 8 from that and 5 mains are 'accounted' for...

When Chris got it from Floyd Clymer I believe it still had two DO Fronty heads chained to the deck of the truck.

I missed the heads. By that time I was getting her eyes rolled back in her head every time I stopped to look at anything. Could have spent a few days in there.

 

Just think a HAMB member could have had that rig for $1,500. back in the good old days. Bob

 

Got this at an auction last week. Just put it up on the Bay. 1911 Algonquin Hill Climb won by an Oakland in the stock car $801-$1200 class.

 

That car was since sold to the USA and then found its way to a French dealer - Christian Decombas of Orleat - who then sold it to a collector based near Vichy a year or so back.

But, I am interested to ask as Ratamata seems to have a lot of knowledge about Montier and racing in Argentina; can you tell me anything about an Arturo Seijos (and a brother) and a team called the 'Red Devils' or 'Dablos Rojas?' who raced a pair of Montier-Fords in Argentina in the late 1940s? And is there any connection to this chassis which is for sale in Buenos Aires?

Yeah, thanks Bob. There was much discussion on these in the past, in fact I may have posted that photo originally, but now I am seeking info on the history of Montier-Fords racing in Argentina.

 

Why do/did folks think it is a good idea to route plug wires in metal tubes?

I do like the spherical [gas?] tank in the background though. Pressurized no doubt.

 

Boy, would I ever like a set of those headers!

 

Those headers, how close the steering box was to them, and NO time for track testing was the downfall of the Miller-Ford Indy cars- the heat from the headers cooked the lube out of the boxes!

 

Guffey, I was dumb enough to have the remains of the Nat Rayburn two man car and sold it,. bought it back, and sold it again. I'd like to find it and buy it back and keep it this time. Nat lived in Fairfield, Ct. about a half hour south oh me. Bob

Autographed by Blackie Schaffer 1950 and given to my good friend Bill Oexle who gave it to me back in the 1970's. What do you know about the car and driver, from some were in Pennsylvania. Note the Mercedes knock offs. Car must be brand new, no number or lettering. Bob
