I'm going to look at a 51 ford PU and the guy wasent sure where the vin numbers are. The truck has a volare clip, if the numbers are on the frame could putting the clip on make them un readable? Are there numbers on the inside of the glovebox? I just want to make sure everything is kosher because CT is a bitch about vin numbers/vin plates. thanks, Billy
Did they do VIN's in the early fifties? Seems to me they weren't required until the late-fifties/early-sixties and that vehicles were registered maybe by engine numbers in the early days. Without the flathead, you could be SOL.
I don't know specifically about a '51 Ford PU, but usually the VIN (called serial numbers back then) on most cars was either on the firewall on the driver's side or on the driver's side door jamb (hinge end). Alan
Top of the pass side frame rail, starts with a star then F1 numbers ends with a star. May be a plate inside glove box, but usually missing. Look for the screw holes...OLDBEET
Pass side firewall and inside glove box lid & top of frame, I think lft side. If you need decoding info e-mail it to me @ Eddie_Bell @ msn.com.
