I payed $1,000 for my 32, but it has been funded by my finds and buying/swapping/selling. Not the quickest way to do it, but sure is fun, save some old tin along the way and it's the only way I can afford to do it.
A 29 roadster that I paid good money for, pretty much complete. Planning a 32 for the next build though, got a little bit to start with.
Not a bad little rod for someone. Satisfying to think If I didn't pick it up it may have been lost forever.

Todays parts hunt was pretty fun. No swap meets this weekend near me and I went to basketball practice with my kids. My little fella couldn't sit still as it was my 7 year old daughters practice. So we went for a walk down by a close creek. To my suprise I found an old sign laying on the bank of the creek! My son is 3 and we were looking for lizards... there were heaps of river skinks as I called them as a kid, there about 7" long. Later this arvo I went back and decided it was worth a better look around. After finding no other freebies in the creek I went for a drive down to a nearby orchard and had a chat with the owner. I got an overland cowell and staunchions, 1937 ford rear end with radius rods, wide fives, and torque tube attached with 36 radius rods also attached as part of the structure! Loads of fun and usable parts for the 32 and he was a top bloke. I hope the diff ratio is better than my other 4.11's. Cost me $60 for the lot!
Everything spins how it should, oil is pretty clean, bonus with the wide 5's which makes up a set for me, and 36 radius rod parts. Pretty good for $40 I think! Gotta love old trailers with early ford parts under them!
I just took the body of the trailer to the scrap yard. Got $28 back, so the early ford parts cost me $12 and a little time with the plasma cutter.

Really enjoying your build. Took 4 nights to get through, and loved it all. Your ability to find old tin is amazing and looks like a lot of fun. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the 32 finished.
I look forward to having it done also. It's a roundabout way to do it, but works for me financially, and is an education all the way along.
My hunting and gathering came to a real high over the weekend as I collected parts from a good mate and hit the Bendigo swap meet with a spring in my step! I collected parts near and far to use, and finance my build! Swaps, buys, sales and finds loaded and unloaded along the way!

No I don't think I did, toasty? My buy of the day was the Willys roadster quarters for very cheap and since sold to fund my 32!
I started flattening off my rear cross member yesterday. I also managed to get out into the shed and work on the supercharger setup today. Might be a while down the track that I run it on the roadster, but I couldn't resist cleaning the outside of it and doing a mock up!

Bit more playing around today. Used cordless tools till they went flat as the storm last night took the power out and it's been out for around 20hrs... started shortening the torque tube and chasing up a clam shell, which I'll hopefully collect tomorrow morning. If the power is back on tomorrow..... I'll straighten out the spring mounts on the 36 radius rods, and finish up some more work on the rear end. Played around with another pair of cycle guards as well. They have original paint which I like.
Nice project, a lot of hard work and resourcefulness evident here. I enjoy seeing all the bits and pieces you collect. I do have one kind of stupid question. I see in a lot of the build threads from down under a lot of the rectangular tubing is painted blue. Is it recycled from some particular source or supplied that way from the manufacturer? Just a little detail that I've wondered about.
It's supplied with the blue coating to prevent surface rust while sitting around. Registration requires it to have 3mm wall thickness and be a minimum of 50x20mm. Thanks for the positive feed back!
