A little more progress... Cleaning up the rest of the body so i can get to bodywork and the front fenders, inner fenders, front valance pan, running boards and grille have been removed so they can be sent to get sandblasted inside and out. The new grille is on it's way as well!

Will you be using any lead when you finalise the body?

I wont. I'd love to, but modern fillers are what will be used on this car. I hope to use lead on my '49 merc next year. I've got 10 lbs ready to go!

Fabulous work!! As the Ex owner of both a ford and merc coupe I wish I had had the balls to attempt even a small amount of the customizing you are doing.
The rotary stripper your using, is it really as good as claimed?? Ralphie

    Thank you very much!

Ralphie, i really like my Contour SCT. I have used everything from bristle discs to mudhogs with 36g to flap discs to remove paint and surface rust, and i like the SCT the best. If you have a car that isn't solid surface rust and you need it shiny quick, i highly recommend trying it.

The SCT is a necessity in my opinion. I'm glad i could help Chucky! Haha!

You guys can get spots #5&6 in the fan club! Haha! I've got some stuff coming out pretty soon... Here's a sneak peek. And T-shirts by Von Franco are already available. Nevermind the t-shirt model, just a guy i found on the street. Send me a PM if ya need something! 20181017_111447.jpg 20180822_154223.jpg

I'll post some updates tomorrow, I have been doing all of the finish welding on the chop (inner structures, doors, where the drip rails were shaved, rounded door corners, etc, and to be honest it's not all that exciting, but I will post pictures of it when it's all ground down and looking good. I will be starting on bodywork soon even though a part of me wants to have the car fully customized and shiny bare metal before I start on bodywork. I'm waiting for the new grille to arrive and the front sheetmetal is done at the sandblaster, but I can't go pick it up until tomorrow when it's dried out a bit.

I shaved the trunk and started on bodywork today. I'll smooth out the rear pan tomorrow and then a good long day on the roof and trunk Monday will round out about 1/2 of the bodywork. I hope to have at least that much in primer before the end of next week!

I got a little more done yesterday, filled the trim holes in the fender and removed the stock marker lights up front. The new grille showed up in the mail as well, so next week I'll be putting the front sheetmetal back together and getting the grille settled into it's new home.
