    thanks!

It's quite an honor to see art made to commemorate our less-than-wise escapade :)

Your welcome and thank you. Does David have any future plans for the Big Ole Caddy after finding out how much Life is left in it.

I don't think he has firm plans yet. He did say he's taking it to the All Souls procession in Tucson tonight....

Ok so I finally finished binge reading the lasalle adventure, crazy work schedule this week.
Then I noticed something in most of Jim’s posts up to about page 41...

    Sent from my trimline

Well we all know Jim’s creativity and sense of humor so I looked it up with DuckDuckGo and this what a trimline looks like - most of us are old enough to know this
Jim, this is better than the Edsel horn button!

I had about a dozen orange Trimline phones at one time...several of them were in regular use in our house and shop. We cut the landline cord several years ago, so the phones are no longer useable, and I sold most of them on ebay.

The orange Trimline phone is my favorite.

Saw on a TV show about funniest videos where a girl that looked about 12 or so was in a hotel room with her family and the father asked her to hang up the phone for him he handed her the handset .................... and she was UNABLE TO HANG UP A REGULAR PHONE like your trimlines. "How do you shut it off? PERPLEXED

OK, now the thread has taken another turn. Last year I bought a box full of Ericofon parts, and from that box built my wife a working one, the body of which was made in the same year she was born. I guess it would be a "traditional" phone since most of it was made in the late 50's. 20181105_064427_resized.jpg 20181105_064442_resized.jpg

  12. Cool phone! But that first photo raises another question. What's the picture in the background that looks like an ant playing a slot machine? o_O

Whooo, really getting off-topic here. When my daughter was a freshman in High School, she took an art class and did a series called "Alpha Animals", depicting a role reversal of animals and humans.

we got a 425 caddy engine and TH400 trans to put in the car in 1998, but I never got around to it. Which is a good thing, because now I'm really glad I got to work on and drive the flathead! The 425 is still sitting on a stand.

using the Eldo stuff would be way too much work.

Since I posted a couple of O/T replies to this thread (old phones and art) I figured I best redeem myself and throw up a couple of photos of my Flathead Cadillac motor. Fresh rebuild, .020 over, Edmunds heads and intake. If Jim and David would have needed it somewhere along the way near Kansas City I would have gladly loaned it to them, along with the required engine hoist. It's been converted to full-flow oiling, and has been broken in on the cart. It would likely have made those long steep grades show up in the rear view mirror a bit quicker. 20181105_093718_resized.jpg 20181105_093750_resized.jpg

    That's a beautiful engine!

It would be fun to play with one of these, in a lighter car....it just has to work to hard to haul a hearse around!

There was this guy who built an AWB Cuda frame up...

I hear you, just thought it would be neat to see it in a full wheelstand, with a coffin hanging out the back door, with wheelie wheels on it.

  22. Ahhh... An ant with a human farm. Nice juxtaposition. I especially like the "Human I.D. Chart" on the wall next to it. :D

The new Old Cars Weekly has an article on the Lemons and didn't show the Hearse, Bummer.

A vendor at Hershey a few years ago had a Cadillac flathead on a stand for sale. I heard one of those "experts" telling his buddy it was a rare Lincoln firetruck motor than was used at Dearborn. I learn a lot of stuff from these guys so I ask him how he came by that bit of information, He said he owned one but sold it to the Henry Ford Historical Group. I moved on:rolleyes:

    Love that engine, really awesome!!!

The 346 I built was bone stock. I went .030 over on the bore, .010/.010 on the crankshaft. It moved the 1938 sixty special around just fine. Before the rebuild, it ran hot. Afterwards it climbed grades, stayed cool, and could climb hills in third gear without overheating. I was impressed with how well that huge car moved! But it wasn't a Hearse like Squirrel's...
