Hot Rods Are you planing on attending the 50th NSRA Anniversary?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Nov 2, 2018.

  1. Since someone brought back the Peoria thread about the first Rod & Custom Street Rod Nationals it got me to thinking about how next year marks 50 years for the organization.

    The road to Peoria

I haven't been since 1988 but we are starting to make our plans to attend in 2019. HRP

That's right on my 50th anniversary (the 16th) I don't think we will make that one.

A real good hotel is the La Quinta on Preston Highway. Minutes from the Fairgrounds in a safe area. Recommended HAMB members stay there for the 2018 Nats and they really liked it. Phone number 502-368-0007.

I will be there, already registered and have the room reserved. Should have 3 or 4 more coming up from South Florida.

  20. It's been held in Louisville, KY for many years. NSRA Nationals at the State Fair grounds, near the airport.

We will be there we've been to all of them since 1977. We liked it better when they moved to a different city each year . Registered at this years event for next year. 20181104_100314.jpg

I've never been to the NSRA NATS in all those 49 years...been to a lot of the regional NSRA events but in 2019 I'm planning on driving my latest project, my 20 year project-a '48 Cadillac Sedanet...won't be finished - the goal is on the street by the end of this year and it'll probably be in primer but it will have working A/C in it...I hear it gets muggy hot back there...!!!

If it was being held in Peoria again I would. But not with it in Louisville. I used to attend lots of Nationals in the 70's and 80's when the locations would vary. But since it has been stuck in Louisville I havent gone since '92.

I understand some of y'all get tired going to the same venue every year but I've never been to an event anywhere that has as much air conditioned exhibit space that Louisville has.

Went to the 49th....it was just ok......skipping the 50th. Probably go to Columbus or Back to the 50's in St.Paul instead.
I would think if they got rid of all the newer cars, they could move to a smaller facility in a different city, where it isn't so HOT. Hell, they could move to Phoenix.....at least it's a dry heat! Back when it was 48 and older, with 6,000 cars, in a city where it wasn't 99 degrees every day, it was way better than it is now. It was way more fun when all the vendors actually sold their stuff. At Louisville, walking in the exhibition building are a bunch of zombie looking people shuffling down the isles, trying to fight off heat stroke. Bring back the old days!
