John Bradley with an Ardun..."Mr Flathead" must be wondering what those funny-looking arms are.


Connell Miller photo of Jerry Norek's roadster at the '58 NHRA Nationals. Jerry was running Joe Reath's blown Chrysler, with updraft carbs, which those two tubes connect to the blower. I think that Jerry won the A/R class at this meet.

Scoville Brothers, from Sherman Oaks, CA. This car would later get a blower and Hilborns, and even later that engine would go in Ivo's single Buick car to garner a gas dragster record of 159.

 

One of Kenny Bernstein's first fuel burning dragster rides. The Anderson brothers supplied the horsepower for the ex Tom McEwen Woody "Trick Car" that later went on to the Carroll brothers.

Let's straighten out a few things from this post #57263.

The photo is at Colton. The NHRA had something called the California State Championships there for a couple of years, but this could be too early for that.

The "front" guy is Jim Nelson who often officiated at NHRA events.

The guy on the left is Charles Walter (Wally) Scott (Scotty) of Scotty's Muffler fame. He owned the tank then. It was one of the first 200 MPH cars at Bonneville. (Maybe the first tank.) Staufacher(sp?) later owned it and put a Chrysler in it.

Here in the photo, it's driven by Donnie Melton with Scotty's Ardun in it.

And the guy to the right is Scotty's brother-in-law, Helen's brother, Chuck.

And the rest of the first caption is correct (it is Colton).
