What is your idea of a winter project? or show us yours, being that it is coming up on us again.

  2. Nut and bolt restoration on a 1941 Farmall BN. I can assemble it in my basement shop and stay warm. No pictures, it’s in a million pieces right now.

I will have to see how everything shakes out here. I would like to do some pretty serious maintenance on the coupe, but I have to get my 39 done first, its getting close. If we get a lot of real cold weather, or a lot of snow, my wife likes her car to sit in the heated garage. This being my 1st winter of retirement, maybe I can actually get something accomplished before spring. I'm just not sure what to expect this year. Gene

Not sure if this qualifies as a winter project, more like 4 or 5 winters or more with me! With my A roadster getting closer to the finish line I have been looking around to see what is out there that might make a cool car. Cruiser, gasser, I don't know for sure what yet? Did some work for a friend effected but Florence and he gave me this little 1954 Met convertible in appreciation. It has a title, good sheetmetal, and he has an incredible amount of parts for these. Needs floors. I always wanted to do a car from the year I was born and this might be it. I have a 1966 289 out of a GT mustang that my brother in law donated to me so I am sort of under way on a project car I didn't know I was gonna have using a motor I had no plans for! Isn't that the way this shit always begins. P.S. Don tell my wife!

  13. For me, a winter project is something I can do in the house basement when it is too cold outside to heat my garage. Some of the criteria is, nothing smelly, no dust, no large noises while my wife is working. (she works from home)
I plan to make a set (maybe 2 sets) of bomber seats and learn/do the upholstery on them. I also have several small sorting and/or repairing jobs to do and if there is time, I should make some foundry patterns that I have been putting off for a few years.

  14. Redo some of the shit on my coupe I hurried through last year. Refine it a little more.

Need to decide over winter to mildly butcher my 57, or just keep it a fun cruiser.. then save and by spring buy parts for whichever option...

I finished my garage heater install last week so I should be ready to tear into my A. Last winter was my first winter of full retirement, I didn't do very much and kind of started to seize up.

   ...The Patient

These are winter projects...that are still outstanding on the Ole Hotrod...

    1) Glove Box latch install
    2) Finalize incomplete flooring
    3) Complete Partial Trunk/Cabin divider
    4) Seal and soundproof
    5) Check and adjust all brakes and grease all bearings.
    6) Check all Tie Rod ends and grease
    7) Reposition and fab or purchase and re-install upper radiator supports
    8) Install new windshield seal
    9) Add package tray extension to seat.

I think that's enough and it is safe to say this things far from done but this rings true of the generalization it's never done.

There you go, part of my problem is I haven't made a list yet. Although that would mean there's some kind of commitment. Phil

I really want to cut my floor out before it gets too cold. I'm probably going to tarp it up for the winter and work on making replacement floors and rockers, maybe see what I can make as far as interior panels

Replace most of the front suspension and parts of the HVAC system in my OT daily and save for Power Tour. Those are my winter projects

  29. My winter projects will be to plow snow and feel sorry for myself that I don’t have a finished shop, and look forward to next summer when I get two months off of work.....

4 years ago at the swap meet I got a nice steel trunk. This year ill finish modifying and painting it so it can go in the back of my truck for luggage storage.
I want to put carpet in the cab, maybe even put mufflers on and get rid of my glass packs.
If I get real froggy, redo the mounting hinge area of the tailgate (unibody) its never shut right and rattles too much
