  1. Outstanding!
I thought the red car looked like a gem before you started! It will be a stunner now.
Keep it up, thanks for sharing.

How patriotic. A red, a white and a blue Fairlane. Not bad you saved two out of three.

The red one is going to be awesome.

Nice to have it over here, much less of a drive. They have a couple cars to get out of the way, then it will be sound deadener, Steering, Brakes, and hang all the body panels again.

No real changes to report, the shop was able to get a bronco out, which allowed my car to move into a safer location..

Noticed that the car is going on and off of jackstands so the shop can use the rollers...

So, decided to put the old weld wheels back on.

So, this had some special meaning to me.

Back when I first got my White Fairlane, my gas door was crooked. My dad took it apart and made a stainless pin for it. Fast forward 30 years, I told Kegan about it and he removed the pin, polished it, added some stainless washers and roll pins and put it back together. Much appreciated.

I just like the look of this..

    Starting on some weather stripping..

    Gas door is on..

Did some work on the column, the shaft is nice and solid now.. So that's steering, brakes, and park. (almost portable)

So Dearborn sent me a trunk latch but no rubber, door rubber but no latches. We Wait.

With all that "new" room under the hood you needed a DOHC too fill it up. All the hard works looks to have paid off; your going to have one nice Fairlane. Congrats

Not sure what I'll do long term for a motor in this thing, putting it together with the carbed 5.0 for now, may get an 8 stack in the future, and some custom headers to use up some of that room.

    Door Strikers and latches..

Had to do a bunch of mods inside the column to fit a 4 speed (no shifter) hub onto an auto (column shift) column/shaft. Got that all straightened out, not it fits pretty well...

Then it was time to take her home for a bit.

Some parts showed up, this should be fun..

Got the front cover on and most of the vintage air stuff on, Hilborn manifold just sitting there..

When we put the cover on we had to pull the balancer...prob a good thing...

Filters for before and after the electric pump..

    Pump..

Its kinda odd but the Hilborn manifold requires a remote thermostat...

With the belt on after replacing the dampner..

I really like what your doing. Some aspects of this may not be traditional for some. Namely the the front suspension, But...anyone who owns one these will learn this if their front end needs a total rebuild......

They made this car for 4 years, 62-63-64-65.
I believe it's the lower ball joint and control arm. This was designed to replaced as a unit...It's not reproduced. The ball joint is, but not the arm. It's a big deal replacing this ....if it needs it.
    Galaxie stuff does not work...
    Mustang stuff does not work....
    Falcon stuff does not work....
Big Fairlane (Coke Bottle) stuff does not work....

What I'm getting at is this....If there is a Hamb era car that's a candidate for updated front suspension the 62-65 Fairlane is it.

We had the trim panels rechromed already but I really don't like what they look like so we are sanding on the little fins to smooth them out, then we will paint this middle section..

Ordered a new factory tank for the car with a 3/8" fuel line, the tank that was in the car was from like a fox body mustang? I never liked that tank on this car..

Was told that any fox body mustang headers would fit with the Mustang II front end, so I ordered these Mac Headers.......

Old Air Heater, and the Vintage Air AC unit bolted back in...

They are keeping her well covered..

Distributor is in and Kegan made a cool bracket that holds the FPR on the back of the engine..

Mocking up the new tank...Much better.

Ahead of the rear axle you can see the tranny cooler..

Getting the heater cables hooked up to the old Air Heater..

Wires... I am glad Greg is doing this part..

    More new stuff..

And this was an interesting one..we looked at the factory 2 speed wiper motor, it was pretty big and not much to look at, so I decided to change to a single speed it is much smaller, and I doubt this car will see rain.

Gas tank mounted for good, Kegan redid the loops that hold it to the car, the aftermarket ones are bent threaded rod.

All the wiring to the back of the car is marked off so when upholstery gets it they wont drill into anything...hopefully.

Fuel lines, water neck and coil mount are on..

Here you can see where the heater hoses go low and thru the frame..

Pressure gage mounted on the regulator..

Elusive single speed wiper motor bracket...

    And installed with minimal wiring..

    Underside of the wiper motor..

New headers came in from Doug's, 1 5/8" Primaries to 3" collectors and they fit after a slight adjustment to one tube.

You can also see the new valve covers I'll be using, they are currently back off again for full polish.

    More header stuff...

Pipes are just hanging in this pic but it shows the headers tuck in there pretty nice.

    Radio I ordered...AM/FM Bluetooth.

Kinda hard to see but we extended the ashtray mount, then mounted the MSD on top, and the Holley EFI Controller underneath..

More wiring to the back of the car..

How she sits while waiting for more parts..

    Fuel system getting wrapped up,

Here is a valve you can close while doing filters...There is a hard line that goes from this to the fitting you can see above the tank

    Then across to the pre-filter...

Then to the big fuel pump and the post-filter...From here it is hardline up to the front..

Another flex line takes the fuel up to the back of the drivers side fuel rail...

The rails are connected with a hardline then out the back of the passenger rail to the regulator..

Out of the bottom of the regulator is the return line, it goes back to the tank on the passenger side.

    New 16 inch Mechanical fan..

The beginnings of a custom metal fan shroud..

Still have the guy working over here on the side trim, its all stainless and will be polished..

All the aluminum trim for the car being sent out to have the clear anodize removed..

Finally got my lighter done, If you haven't worked on a 1 year only car then you wont understand how something little like this can take so much time.
