This is the car in 1946 before Swede was killed at Gilmore. I think the engine was an engine he was developing at the time.

Drake Viscone's Ford. He ran several cars under the banner of Carmel Ford the last being funny cars. He was last working for Jack Roush racing in N. Carolina and his sons racing Mustangs.

I love this car. Pretty sure I saw this in the Birmingham (UK) science museum as a kid.

  9. Vincent Burnelli's UB-20 with a Packard underslung. Yes it flew, yes, they even started the car and put in drive at altitude. Why? I believe it was as Sun Oil Co. showing how their oil doesn't freeze below temperature.
    Corrected, a 35 Ford.

NOT a fake anything. Burnelli's lifting bodies are VERY well known. He basically invented the spoiler.

  17. When Hot Rod’s Ray Brock Wandered Around The Garages At The 1964 Indy 500, Look What He Found: An Early SOHC Prototype With The Spark Plugs Located Low On The Heads Stuffed Into A 1964 Galaxie. Engineers Found The Spark Plug Location Did Not Make Any Difference In Combustion (shown Here On Bottom Of Valve Cover), So They Relocated Them On Production Engines To The Top Of The Heads For Easier Access.
