If you are traveling the Mother Road and feel the need for a bite to eat near Springfield, MO I'm buying. Just let me know! I also have an equipped shop, but we're not talking 'bout that stuff, because you're not having any issues, no sir.:)

    Fantastic! I'll be following along.
What's that tank weigh? Maybe take a route with the least amount of grades to pull.

Jim... The year of the hearse is unclear; does it have the pre-'38 floor shift trans...or the later side shift?
Those older Caddies were (are) excellent 'road cars'...should be an enjoyable trip.

Do you have a "box in the back"? Give the people something to look at other than the car itself; put a little electric motor and linkage setup inside to keep bumpin' the coffin lid. I want out! Safe travels to you guys. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  14. If you need to do some fixing in Las Vegas, send me a note. My little shop is fairly well-equipped.

May the Gods be with you both.
Try and stay out of prison in Joliet and send my regards to the Blues Brothers if you see them.

Thanks for the good wishes, and offers of help. We sure appreciate it!

We stopped in El Paso for the night. Too much rain to keep going. It's not so bad during the day, but really hard to see in the wet dark.

We are planning to take I 20 for a while. Not sure of teh route after that.

Ooh, time to re silicone that windshield. Can't let that seep into your under dash wiring. Here's to hoping for clear weather. Safe travels.

The screen thing really works well. Temp gauge always told me when to clean it until everything finally cleared out. Don't ask what stupid thing I did to kill a new radiator.

  25. Here is a cool link for you for travelling I-20 in Texas.
    http://www.i20texas.com/
I also read recent information stating that motel rooms are expensive between Midland and Abilene, because of high demand by oil workers . The posting also stated that travel at night can be dicey, because of oil rigs on the move. The posting didn't specifically state whether this is on the highway, but I thought it might be worthwhile passing on.
I watched a youtube of the drive along the highway, and don't envy you on that part of the drive between El Paso and Fort Worth. It is too bad that you didn't have the time to go north to Santa Fe, and drive the old Santa Fe trail. I drove it back in 1970, and you could feel the history. It was also a lonely drive.

We are going to get plenty of mountains on the second half of the trip, and this car is not too fond of mountains. It goes up hills and stops ok. but the engine gets hot on the uphill parts.

Yes, it's a rough stretch of road today, and it's going to rain starting some time later this morning, and we won't be out of it for a while.

Traveling the smaller highways is slow going, too.

    we'll just keep plugging away.

It is sold for venting the bilge (engine compartment) in in-board motored boats. These came from my stash of parts, bought years ago at a boat supply store, when I was fighting vapor lock in OT 392 V-8 engines (Cornbinder, not Hemi). They have 12 Volt motors and use standard sized flexible ducts. Jim got a 3 inch and a 4 inch. I think the one in the picture is a 4 inch fan
