I never know what to expect when I show up to pick up or drop off ..... Monday morning in New Hampshire Eli is on the Ford Tractor pulling my haul to the road - turns out I am in for a treat .... I am at Traditional Speed & Custom ..... Housed in a two level barn is an impressive display of neon & early signage Eli started collecting as a teenager .... Then there are The Cars ..... This - was found & brought back to original build condition by Eli - the pan had been flipped & the engine stuffed partway into the driver compartment ( forget a firewall ) You sit on the pan to drive .... Eli has driven this at a TROG event .... Jim
The barn wood floor was pulled up - the sub floor reinforced with steel - laid down exactly as it came up .... Eli’s Collection is authentic - he finds old Customs and Rods - then gets them back running Jim
Thanks @trulyvintage for that tour of Hamber Eli's land of inspiration...because that's truly what it is...I remember the Blue coupe thread...He definately has a respect for history.
Richard Munz comes to mind when you talk about respect & preserving the past as it was. I was fortunate to view his collection years ago & it wasn’t on a Good Guys Tour. Eli & his wife run a stellar restoration shop. Jim
If I could travel back in time and build a hotrod shop....this would be it! So much to see. Sent from my Pixel XL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Years past, there was a great old Mack Truck "Museum" in Hillsboro. https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/gallery/album/903-kemp39s-truck-museum/ My 85 year old aunt stuck up a conversation with mr. Kemp and we were invited inside the garage-where no one ver went. It was chock full of treasures like this, just stuff collected over the years. Mr. Kemp passed away and I believe the "museum is long gone. No idea what happened to the treasures.
Eli, Lisa, and family have an open house every summer. Yard full of cool cars and cool people. Traditional Speed and Custom does some outstanding work out of that barn. Eli is a great guy too- I have a story from TROG 2017: My roadster was pissing water out of the left water pump faster than I could fill it up. We could not keep the engine cool enough to race, Mike Bowling says " ask Eli if he knows where to find a pump, he knows a lot of people down here" I asked him, he says " left pump- 37-41? I think I have one in the trunk of my coupe" He opened his trunk and pulled out a new in the box pump. Just blew my mind Sent from my E6810 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
