  1. Took the driveshaft out today to redo it again. The first one was out of line when the tube was shortened back in the day. It had a hum at 35/45 mph. Replaced that with a later solid shaft without the center bearing, hoping it was short enough not need the center bearing. At high speed it started to vibrate. So this time I am going to try the Spadaro driveshaft kit. wish me luck. IMG_4100.JPG You can see I have done this before!

I fueled up with non-oxy and took the '58 for a Sunday drive. I finally got some pictures of it in bright sun...

I woke up, put on my shoes and walked and looked at my car and said to myself “wow you really do own an impala” and then walked inside and started looking for more parts!

Last night, fumbled a traditional Smithy glasspack into my face. I only bled a little. This morning, the first thing task is a new muffler hanger....

It just looks right! I stumbled across this '57 last spring, couldn't pass it up! I hope to have it driving next spring and maybe even done by summer time... we'll see.

Real good start! Got the stance down!

Im a little different than most, I like the look of the single front headlites of the 57's. Just looks a little less cluttered to me....Such nice looking trucks, especially with a big back window....

  19. Back at it today! Welded up the driveshaft ends. Ran a 1/2" threaded rod inside that screwed into the male splined end then bolted it up tight to hold things straight while tacking and welding. Things seem nice and straight. I did recut both ends with tubing cuter first to insure square ends.

I got my project back from the upholstery shop today. Odd, but I did not take any pictures of the interior. Maybe tomorrow........................ I've got nothing else to do as my checkbook is flatter than a fritter and will be for the foreseeable future.

Why didn't you move this close to me BEFORE I bought a seat from you?!?!?! Would have been a lot easier! Welcome to the neighborhood.

Well some of us are late bloomers! I feel like a kid who is about ready to chop his first car... can’t wait to get started. LOL. Thanks for the welcome! Gotta say, some of the nicest people I’ve ever met are in and around that area. Makes leaving San Diego weather a lot easier!

    ;)
So I’m told! I will just put it out there... much friendlier business climate... weather wise it will be nice to experience the 4 seasons again. Good hunting and fishing & snow! And to top it off a great and active Hot Rod Community to partake in... did I mention it’s in the Bible Belt? ;) What’s not to like?

I've been tweaking my rocker box design, and hopefully I can get them cut, and bent pretty soon.
