Don’t know why ,as the caps have been on a while. It blew off the rear skirt also and damaged that also, I doubt the cap will buff out either. May save the skirt .
We only have the caddy caps on the rear as a now extinct rod shop made the front end too wide to allow the car to turn. We had to change the offset on the front rims to allow turns and consequently the caddy hub caps we so desired wont fit now.

Kind of bummed as were visiting with Kurt McCormack and was generous enough to offer us these caps from his personal inventory. Sorry Kurt....

I think its 48 caddy but not too sure , really need to know exactly what year we are looking for.
    Thanks

If your running skirts could you not run a plainer less expensive cap as the Main focus of the Caddy Cap is lost behind the skirt anyway? Sorry about the noisy loss.

Sombrero's are the crown jewels....shame about the damage....looks like they were good clips .I tend to use the Caddy wheels with the clips in the hub...48-49 are the same

Did they run these caps for a few years?

  7. Bummer about the damage.I thought sombreros had the small hub that clipped in the center not around the edges? Is that a real Caddy cap or aftermarket?

    IMG_0838.JPG IMG_0839.JPG IMG_0845.JPG I have a full set of 53's I'm not using , but they require 53 wheels to mount properly

52 Kaiser are smooth check into them

  10. All the custom guys I know take them off for driving any distance. They're heavy. Radials flex the wheels, and: Boing!

The skirt is salvageable, luckily, with not too much damage. Thank you for bringing it to our little event.

  12. search for the thread that Dave Wolk made about how he mounted sombreros. I'll be doing the same mounting style for mine.

If you like to send it down I would be happy to have a look at it, possibly repairable

I know you are clever metal man Bevan , but I think this one may be wall art. The risk of repair is that it goes awol again.. Very ballsy of you to take on this mangled wreck. But someone as skilled as you probably could just do it. But its kind of like the huge effort and is it worth the time?
Are you coming up to Deuce days?
We will be doing the Pre-49s and St Rod nats down south next year.

  17. What is the pre-49s event? Thanks for info. Already working on my calendar for next year.

Pre-49s event down south in scenic Twizel , New Zealand in April 2019.
We are just getting over the NSRA nats from last weekend , we took 3 cars, so couldn’t squeeze in a Ocean voyage in the time frame.
