Working on a '26 T Dirt Track Modified that will be street legal right now. Sitting on a modified Speedway "A" Frame.

Built a Track T from an MAS body and front axle several years ago. Sold it before it was done but it's still running around!

Fun cars to build but not a lot of room to work with.

Drug a 26-27 T Tudor out of the woods several years ago. It sat on sawhorses beside my old wooden shop building that is now gone for about a year before I realized I didn't have the money and skills to build anything out of it, so I sold it. Got $200 out of it, and it still had the engine and running gear under it. Only T I have ever owned, and have never owned an A.

Still to this day model A and T parts are plentiful and cheap. It still can be an entry level project with the huge availability of parts for them both stock and otherwise. Coming from a Restoration back ground, my first choice for a hot rod build was a Model A coupe.

Lou Wells, would like to see more of your friends T coupe. Its tough. I've had my 26 coupe for 21 years and wouldn't take anything for it...……...

  7. I was never a big fan of Boyd Coddington's building styles but I really liked the simple look of the T coupe he built, not crazy about the quarter window but the car is very cool looking. HRP

I don't remember when Boyd built the A coupe but often wondered if Rick Kerschs' A pickup had any influence on him, I know this truck has been around like forever.

  11. Denny, it's a T coupe.

It seems like I have seen that truck somewhere in the past, is the owner a sign painter? HRP

    Yes
Rick Kersch, SoCal sign painter, I can only say I've read it is or was a working truck.

  17. Bob, I would like to see the car in your avatar come to fruition.

Inquiring minds want to know, are you working on it or is it at a stand still? HRP

I think T's & A's are the most affordable early hot rods. If you try you can put on together for not a whole lot of money still.

    Thanks,

  19. My dad back in the 1940's had a Model T he used as garbage truck for his in town business...then they opened up a little dirt track and he and one of his buddies built up a model T race car...it had a homebuilt water injection system on it...from what I remember him telling me they added an extra carb to it and fed it water...I guess it was a pretty stout runner back in the late 1940's. I wish they took pictures...my dad was quite the mechanical wizard back in the day...he could make something from nothing...must have been from growing up with nothing taught him a lot of neat stuff...

I agree with HRP, T's and As are the backbone.... of what 99% of people call hotrodding, the 1% go back to very early stuff in the teens, huge motor speedsters, stripped down factory race cars, thats where it all kinda started, then the 20's and 30's pushed forth the modification of the t and a... Mile a minute was the claim to fame for anyone and everyone... Pushing late 30s, depression was not as depressive, people could have some fun, so finding an old t or a and souping it up was fairly common. Think about the amount of these cars into the 40s.... staggering... Then post war.... people came back from fighting and had money..... buy an old t or a for dirt cheap, strip it down and bam hotrod....

Prewar hotrodding is something most forget about for golden days, 50s hotrodding was just more popular due to alot more publication and the birth of dedicated magazines... Even in stock form a good ole T or A is unsurpassed in its identity, the bases for tons of hotrods that have been built through the years. Hell I honestly think the 30-31 A is better looking coupe than a deuce... Best part is the high production count of Ts and As... You can still find bodies today that are affordable within reason for the average man/woman, wanting to build a hotrod. Stock or a hotrod, driving one and owning one will always leave a huge imprint on your life....

I guess its like looking at a woman with some curves on her from the back, wide up top, tapers to the waist then flares back out.... maybe that's why i like em....
