Hot Rods T & A's are the backbone of hot rodding

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Oct 20, 2018.

  1. With 15 million T's being built and 5,858,664 A's they should account for a large percentage of hot rod material that is still being built today.

I'm just speculating but I would think many of us started out with a Model T or Model A and many guys that have been building them for years still prefer them to anything else.

I have never built a T but I have had a bunch of Model A's and still like them, I don't need another hot rod but if the right Model A popped up tomorrow I would be tempted. HRP

Stone stock or Hot Rodded everyone needs a Ford T or A, all you need is a checkbook balance a stack of catalogs and you are ready to build. Bob

Growing up in the early/mid 60's and prior to be of driving age the T bucket was in full blossum so those seemed to get my attention in the magazines.
Model A's were big too but just never attracted me much, then I discovered the Deuce and I knew where I fit in but they were always out of reach costwise, then got hooked on the whole 60's street car craze and it wasn't until I was well into my 40's that I was drawn back to the older cars.
Same issue was money with 32 Fords so the only possible way was the aftermarket and that's what I have now.
Now back to the model A, it seems I have been drawn to the 28/29 closed pickup lately but with three stalled projects I just don't see that happening.
    But I can still dream!

I love model T’s and A’s hence my name. My 1st and 2nd hotrod was a T and A respectively.

Love 27 T and 28-29 model As but if the “right” anything popped up, I’d be interested

  9. I can quite honestly say I am a "T" nut......
I am always on the lookout for another "T" , and I also
Have the yearning for an "A" .... so yes is the answer Danny.

Lots of T's and A's ended up as scrap metal and shipped to Japan just before the war..... :(

Ran across this A frame last weekend, like i need another project. Hard to pass up free. Serprisingly my wife likes having it in the backyard for ambiance, and background for photos. 20181020_182558.jpeg 20181020_182540.jpeg

My very first car was a fender less 31 Cabriolet.. wish I kept it... wouldn’t mind finding another A body... or even a T.

Here's a few of my T and A projects over the last several years.
Some actual got to the drive stage before heading down the road,
Two still hanging around, The Brown Roadster driver and the Incredible Hulk project.

    in no particular order;

Didn't you do a video of riding in this car a while back? HRP

  20. Your brown roadster has always been one of my favorite cars here on the hamb. Have always liked the Turtle deck "T" body hotrods.

My mind's image of the perfect hot rod is a 27T track roadster lowboy, but after sitting in one belonging to a friend several yeas ago, I had to face reality in that I was just too damn big for it.:(
Next would come the 28/29 with a track roadster nose. But with my size 14 feet, a 3 pedals car is out of the question:confused:
So I had to settle for a 30/31 with a Deuce grill, as to my taste the cowl is just too wide for a track nose.

Didn’t start with a T or A but the second one was a T. Then I’ve had quite a few As. Roadster, sedan, 2coupes and just bought another something that resembles a coupe in august.

A running A with a current registration could be had for $50 in the fifties. Could be one of the reasons for the popularity along with lots of west coast magazine coverage.

  26. My first "A-Bone" hotrod! Fun car. It's a 1930 with an Olds 455 and a Muncie 4spd. It will always be an unfinished project. I love those. IMG_20180928_134515.jpeg IMG_20180928_134545.jpeg IMG_20180924_193124.jpeg
