I've built several of these. One under construction. It's in Ohio now with Coronet on here.

This one has an early 60's fiberglass bucket, and a cut down 1930 steel bed. Battery is in cooler in the bed.

  8. Why not do something really cool and build a T bucket style RPU. This is Arnold Avila's '29 from the 60's. Go out of the box and start with a Model A.

Not sure off the top of my head, I would have to go measure it. Here is a side shot for proportion. Lots more photos in my albums section.

As impractical as the T roadster might seem,
as far as carrying passengers or loads beyond yourself and a bag of groceries goes,
    I really like them.
They are what you get when you boil down a hot rod to include just the absolute basics,
an engine, four wheels and a place to sit.

I never cease to be amazed at how strong the T contingent is on here. They are not particularly well liked around here but I building another one 'cause I miss the last one so bad. Chance to fix all the stuff I screwed up last time. There are so many really cool ones out there right now and to be truthful, one of the last of the affordable cars to build.

I totally agree. They don't seem to get the respect of later roadster body styles but they are a great, economical car to build and fun to drive. It's great when someone avoids the Kookie Kar style and builds a low, lean and mean version like the black one in Joeyesman's post. At shows, I'm always drawn to T buckets. I'd love to build one with a steel body.

The lack of knowledge is what keeps a lot of guys from liking T Buckets. Usually, they're seeing the "Fad T" style and they think that's what they all look like. Or, they're a bigger person and couldn't fit in one, so they just hate. A T Bucket built using or based on the styling ques of the 50's and early 60's can be a lot of fun. Just keep all the add-on crap that goes with a "Fad T" off and you can have a nice style build.

If a person puts a little thought into seating, they can be comfortable, too. A RPU style build probably isn't built to haul much, but they look nice and it's a very cool body style.

This is my all time favorite, it has style... I'd build one very similar to it today

To me the proportion on the black RPU in catus1 post #5 is just about perfect. I was considering building another T using that car as a possible vision until I distracted myself with finally doing some "finishing" my T pictured in post #23, and then buying a '31 coupe.

I wanted to include a top on the second T build if I ever do one, with chopped windshield posts, not a full height windshield and those support rods. Not exactly a "weatherproof", year-round car, but it would have offered a bit of wind and weather protection and comfort that my first T was completely missing. I have always wanted a turtledeck on the back of a '23 for at least some tiny bit of space for things needed for an overnight trip, but seeing a couple photos in this thread with maybe 24'" to 36" long PU beds would have me considering that approach too.

I already have a 2.5L Chevy 4 cylinder with a T5 transmission, a 54" wide S10 rearend, and a 4" drop tube axle with spindles waiting in the wings......

  30. Here's mine, if I did it again it would have a usable bed and working doors, wheelbase is something you have to consider when adding the bed too. 20170819_130232.jpg 20170819_130400.jpg
