    Jerry Sahagon's Chevy.
Car uses two '54 Buick lower bumpers (one inverted).

Joe Boliba's '56 started out as a nice, typical mild custom; but as the decade moved on, evolved into something much more wild than mild (as did each of these Bailon-built customs).

    That's Show Biz! (And Bailon!)

    Thank you!
Kind of does have that Carnival look now that you mention it.
60 yr old springs, 20 yr old shocks, and 60 yr old bushings(whats left of them) all help in making the car lower than it should be.
Don't zoom in too much, then you will notice all the rust holes and that most of the car is painted with a rattle can.

    LOL!
Truth be told, I have seen some nice cars (give or take) that were actually brush painted (including a '57 Ford convertible...in black!) Bill Hines got his start (as did many) with a fly sprayer! So, bring it on!
How about a closeup of that bitchin' grille?

Only pic I can find right now that shows the grille better.
The center is painted black and just a bunch of accessory license plate bullets added.

IMHO...!!! Takes more than just shaving the hood. Shaved hood = custom. No door handles = custom. All emblems removed = custom. White vinyl interior = custom. Multi-colored paint = custom. Total MILD custom.

  13. On my walks to High School (mid '60s !!) I used to pass a Fleetline painted like this.. Loved that car - which was obviously inspired by pics of this one in some magazine from the time..

I seem to recall that Jerry Weesner had a Kustom Komet project going, while editor of Custom Rodder Magazine.
It was to have included a pair of vintage Winfield accessory sheet metal headlight buckets for the outer lights.
Does anyone know what became of that car?

Sad, it had a lot of kool potential.

  19. You need to read a little more closely. He said he "used to pass a Fleetline that was PAINTED LIKE THIS..." referring to the coupe. He didn't say the above picture was a fleetline.

  25. My brother, Bruce built this 1951 Chev 4dr custom around 1975-78, body off the chassis which was painted silver & red, most of the suspension/steering chromed, all front sheetmetal hand formed, including the extended hood, bumperettes , 59 Caddy taillights tunnelled in to the top of the rear fenders, fully customised dash, 12" shortened steering column with 59 Olds wheel, 4 bucket seats with a full console front to rear, Oz 186 Holden engine with 5 speed Alfa gearbox, 62 Chev rear axle with 57 manual centre.....these are the only pics I have of it, its now a 2dr, chopped top car in Brisbane but still recognisable due to the caddy taillights..........andyd

Thanks for the compliment Dave! I enjoyed talking with you at The Hotrod Hundred, it was nice to talk Kustoms in the sea of street rods and hot rods we were in. Your 36 is outstanding!
