    The all aluminum engine is 1 of 1, a GM test mule, been in a few hands, I can imagine the appreciation rate was considerable at each sale.

    This engineering program was an extension of the Z/28-302 that used a 3” crank and with those being readily available there was no need for a custom crank. Also, I don’t know how rigid homologation regulations were to keep an engine legal for Trans-Am but I would expect all components had to be RPO items.

    The pistons in the '69 302s we're all factory installed TRW Forged units....
    My ponys also had factory installed TRW Forged pistons....

    I have several sets of factory Z28/302 pistons, one set is brand new. The heaviest pistons known to man <almost> No one trying to make any serious power would ever use them today. I just wonder if Traco was actually using them back in the day.

    You can bet that whatever was the standard " back in the day" Traco was on the leading edge.
