Technical pros and cons of a blower motor

You shouldn't need a boost referenced carb with 5 psi. You can do it if you want, but it's not necessary.

Don't bother with vacuum advance, you don't really need the extra 1 mpg it might give you. Nothing about this engine build will be sensible, nor economical. Which is a great thing

The cam profile will affect driveability more than the blower will. The blower just moves more air through the engine. Set up the cam and drivetrain to work together, just like on any other engine.

 

Here is a chart for Y bloke heads, there are some heads with the 1.92 intake(largest) with 82cc combustion that made 8:1 ratio. The main one previously mentioned: 5750-471

I’ll add my recommendation to tony at Ross racing engines for his expertise with blown vintage engines. My partner has two of tony’s engines in his hot rods(blown nailhead and blown Oldsmobile) that we’ve put thousands of miles on without any concerns and those runs with tony and Bobby Hilton’s gang at the lone star roundup in Austin Texas and the tanks run at goodguys in Nashville for hot rod of the year are the best testaments I’ve seen for performance and reliability. Tony built a y block for one of Bobby’s customers a few years back that Bobby put thousands of miles on and I got first hand experience of his shake down runs and normally there a thousand mile run from his shop in Virginia to Austin Texas

 

Just an update, I think I have the 4-53 blower sold but I'm still waiting on a shipping quote for the 4-71.
I have read all the posts and want to thank all who have responded, I have quite a "blower info" folder saved up. Can't wait to put it to use....

 

Blowers tend to "tame" a too wild cam, much like more cubes do.
