I took the 52 Merc to town one evening earlier this summer for some photos. Took this one on the very quiet main street. Typical small town Sask. Saturday night.

I am pretty sure I know what you were feeling that day.

Last night at my favorite vista. I had to go get groceries a mile from here....... with my only daily driver, before the rains from the Hurricane were coming in fast ....an hour later after this pic.

I visited this place functioning in the early 70's. It was a general store that serviced the locals and cottages visiting Dalhousie Lake and it's kind of a reminder of history to me...and derelict vintage cars dotted this property...most are gone but a few rust belt quality shrapnel shells remains exist as remnants of their own former service.

  8. Mick, that's a perfect example of what I was talking about. VA has history of its own, yet you were coming up to Ellicott City for the shops and restaurants. It really is a shame not to preserve it.

  9. I'll be sure to do that. It's probably been 20 years or more since I was last in Canada. We were in Welland as my son's baseball team was there to play in a World Series. We were pretty busy with the baseball games, so we didn't get to see as much of the countryside as we had hoped. Wud definitely like to visit again.

  10. I'm hopeful the water tower will be saved. They are great landmarks that people recognize and can relate to.

This is the auditorium at the now closed Northfield School for Girls. Built in the 1880's, it is one of many beautiful buildings on the campus. IMG_2254.JPG

Thanks for the memories. I was a little kid and lived in Northfield, MA from 1947 to 1952. The last place we lived was on Winchester Road and we would occasionally walk by this building.

I hope you can handle a lot of pics?? I finally hit the brand new Mill Park just around the corner from my home. When I first moved here in Dec 2007, there was a very elderly woman living in a very small house that was so close to the road, that it looked dangerous. (like a car hitting it at night). I always thought that there must have been a farm here, as one pic below shows the imprint of an old wooden silo in a cemented wall.

Anyways, some years ago they tore down the home. She may have passed or moved to a senior home. she used to let an older friend of mine fish in this huge pond that curves out of any pic I took tonight. A couple months ago, crews came in for cleanup and asphalt, signs, etc. Hamb is about history and the Antiquated Forum ties in with this post... I hope. I never knew it was a huge mill site.

This is one of 3 different historic signs placed on the site in different areas. I am sure I met the guy that would have been the one who wrote these. I attended a town festival a couple months ago, and he had a large display of the towns history, and is on the Historical Society there. He invited me to his historic home on the lake, as we both have the same interests, and we "clicked" so to speak. Each sign has a text side and a photo side. (below)

^^^ this is the imprint of a very old wooden silo from what I can tell, even the iron hoops are still there. I have no idea why it was wrapped in cement.

below, the old spillway..... the simple beauty of New England in Autumn..

^^^ this pond hooks hard to the right in the distance.

^^^ on the road again, on Old Eagleville road, headed to Eagleville Dam, where I had one of the best evenings with meeting people, in a LONG time there. More on that trip on another day....with lots more pics.

I have to try to convey to others, that by having a rod or a kustom, ...and if you drive it every day or evening to places like these in your area,....you will be surrounded by wonderful people and experiences. 2018: Best year of my life...so far.. :)..no lie.

IMG_1658.JPG IMG_1650.JPG Another Northfield picture of the old high school, now an elementary school. Before Halloween the kids all carve pumpkins and they get displayed in front of the school. They stay there for a couple of weeks. I think on Halloween night they all have a lit candle in them.

Thanks, my dad taught in the building on the right, I attended first and second grade in the building on the left (1949 thru 1951).

  21. IMG_0085.JPG I don’t think an explanation is needed other than the fact this is actually about 26 miles south of my town.

back at the schools farmland...it's a Zen place to be at the end of the days obligations. I don't get here as often, now that the cold is here. Clouds are a tell to what is coming..

my original 32 radiator has been leaking more and more in the last few months...it needs a new core, but the top tank is sketchy...

I was at a friends house today, and I then stopped to see his neighbor who I went to HS with in the 60s... I jokingly said "do you have a 32 stock 4 cylinder radiator?"...he said "why yes, I do". The core and lower tank are bad, but the top tank looks mint.

I'm in eastern Connecticut..... Ted, who started this "Town Thread" sent me a pic today of his sky in western Connecticut..looks like woodstoves are idling and waiting..
