The time has come to start on my next project. Another 30 Coupe. This one starts in better shape than the last one. There is some rot in the lower cowl and quarter but this one at least has decent subframe rails. Pics of the new project:

It was rough to begin with. I had to build the bottom 8" all the way around. I also filled the roof and replaced all the wood structure with steel.

Pretty nice solid looking body. How did you clean off the paint?

Started by hitting the whole car with paint stripper. Once I scraped off the biggest part of the paint I went back over it with a brass wire wheel. Took about 6 hours, that included taking out the windows.

Best one I’ve started with. I’ll make the lower cowls, lower quarters, and panel below the trunk. Then I’ll make the floor pans before I decide whether or not to chop it. It looks like it had only one repaint in its life. The lower quarters were replaced once before and they were brazed in (poorly) and the few dents it had were leaded so I’m thinking it was done no later than the 60’s

Got a bit of work done today. Subrail repaired and a couple of patch panels made.
